We went to work for Gary and Jennifer Flora owners of Vandywood stables in Jan. of 2013. We agreed to work one day a week at the stables in exchange for board for one horse. Our horse was moved in one week after we began working at the stables and we were not compensated for that one day of work.

On Feb. 16, 2013 we sold our horse. We then made arrangements to work at the stables on Saturdays and Sundays for $83 per day of work. Jennifer told us she issues checks on the 1st and 15th of every month. We continued to work for the Floras on Feb.17, 23, 24, and March 2, 3, and 9. On March 1st we did not receive a check.

On March 3rd we agreed to buy a horse from the Floras. We put $200 cash down as a down payment. We did not agree to have our back wages go towards the purchase price of the horse. We asked several times for a sales contract on the horse but the Floras refused to produce one.

On March 9th we chose to quit working for the Floras because of the dangers of handling their horses. We had been bit, kicked and drug too many times because their horses are aggressive and untrained. We requested our back wages of $581 dollars and the Floras refused to pay us any of it.

If you quit a job your employer cannot refuse to pay you for the time you have worked. The Floras are dishonest criminals. We suffered many hours of hard labor and suffered several injuries from working for them and they refuse to compensate us. We said we would take the horse in lieu of a cash payment and they also refused that. They ripped us off and will pay us nothing for the 7 days we worked for no payment. Do not work for these scam artists.

#2UPDATE EX-employee responds

Tue, December 23, 2014

I interviewed with Jenni Flora in her home in 2013. She was a very ill woman at that time, and in a chair as she could not possibly get up and down due to her obesity and other ailments. Her mind was sharp as a tack and her tongue even worse. During the two hour interview she scolded several people in her "office" and by phone. She was always right, everyone else was always wrong. I took a walk around her property after she ordered me to leave the house so she could follow up on a call she simply couldn't put off until after we had finished our talk.  I found over 20 horses on her property all without sufficient care. They were desperately in need of hay, and even more desparately in need of hoof care.  I wanted to say something, but felt that she would consider me a spy if I did. I had all but decided not to work for her when I came back into the house.  The final straw was when I heard her tell her husband Gary that she was not about to pay a contract employee for the two people the employee had found her (Jenni) to place with jobs. She is a head-hunter by trade. She had openly decided NOT to pay the employee for his or her work.  I knew then that she was a louse and I left.  I remember driving straight to the sheriff and complaining about the horses.  Obviously nothing was done.  I know it is terrible to say but she deserved her illness from the way she treated others.

#3REBUTTAL Owner of company

Mon, March 17, 2014

I will not use these kid's last name or phone number to protect their privacy.  I am very disappointed that this couple would twist the facts as such.  In truth (and I have 5 witnesses) they were working Sundays to pay their horse's board and when they sold their horse (that was given to them free of charge).......they wanted to buy Piper from me.  He was one of my horses.  Tiffany had said she was a good rider, but in fact was even afraid to mount a horse since she had not ridden in some time.  She then decided she wanted another one of my horses instead and I agreed.  They were to put a certain amount of money down....but alias....did not have it....so I allowed them to exchange prior wages for a portion of the downpayment and gave them a TWO YEAR, INTEREST FREE LOAN TO BUY THE HORSE. They were to work Sundays for board and some Saturdays + $ to pay for the horse.  After just a week or so, Tiffany decided she wanted to move the horse and we said she could once he was paid for.  She then decided she did not want the second horse either and so we offered to help her sell him AND CHARGE NO COMMISSION if we sold him for her.  She then wanted to leave in the middle of the day and not return (according to her husband, Ben).......but he returned to finish the day.  After that we did not hear or see them again.......other than to threaten that if we did not give them their board back since they did not want him anymore.......they would file this report.  Well.........I do not respond well to threats.......and worried that even if they bought this horse he would be thrown away like all the rest.  In fact, she said she had an attorney.....but never produced one .......and that a deal is a deal and you can't go back a collect money that is no longer yours.        Tiffany, in fact, appeared very afraid of any horse.......yet her husband rode the horse well and without any trouble.  He was confident.  She on the other hand was not very supportive of him.......but we liked him and I think he meant well.......just between a rock and a hard place.  We have always paid people for what they had done all 32 years worth.  But I guess it is inevitable you might make one or more people mad in that length of time.  We tried to contact them....sent an agreement to them since they would not give us their address.......and never again heard from them or saw any signed agreement.  I therefore feel this whole report is false........and probably should have sued for slander.  But, that would be unchristian......and instead we have chosen to pray for them.  Hopefully they will treat others better than we were treated by them......and stop the lies.  Regards, Jenny

I have known Jennifer and Gary Flora, the owners of Vandywood Stables longer than this little malcontent has been alive and I have NEVER known them to mistreat, or disrespect an employee much less a horse. What I have seen is an apparent lack of any moral fiber and total incompetence in Tiffany Eilers ability to handle even the gentlest of horse. She apparently and boldly misrepresented herself to Jennifer and unwittingly characterized herself as a knowledgeable and experienced horse care provider.  She subsequently exaggerated her EXTREMELY limited abilities and put her own self in harms way as well as the horses she attempted to unsuccessfully care for. Since the Floras are a private horse farm it came to their attention too late that it appears Tiffany Eiler has pulled this act on several others. Jennifer is highly respected within the horse community and has owned a successful local business for well over 30 years. Tiffany what have you done with your life other than spread vicious stories and untruths about successful EMPLOYED people???? Karma is nothing you of all people should be messing with....and I do indeed feel sorry for you.
