this all started when my son had an accident. he hit some ice, went off the road, hit a culvert, the car isn't drivable. we tow it home. this is sunday evening, dec. 21, 2008. we wait until monday, dec. 22 to talk to geico. we are told that because of the holiday, it will take a week to get an adjuster out to look at the car. we understand that and MO has had several ice episodes, they are busy.

we wait a week, never hear from anyone. we call them, only to be told that they don't send out adjusters, we hafta get it towed to such and such dealer to get it looked at there. they call the tow company that they use and had it towed there. another week passes, then another.

we call them, again. they have no record of it being towed anywhere!!!!! we finally get that part straightened out and then a few days later we hear from the dealership. at this point they have had our car for 2 weeks and now they tell us we need to come in and sign some paperwork so they can look at the car. 2 weeks later!!!

four days later, they finally call to give us the estimate. no ma'am, we haven't heard from geico yet. we call geico, they give us the name of our claims adjuster. we call him. he should be able to get over there tomorrow. 3 days later, we call him again. he's on his way there right now. this is friday, january 16, 2009 and we don't hear from him again till monday.

the car is totalled. we knew that part already. now comes the valuation. we don't agree with it. we had a 2002 4-dr honda accord sedan, 6-cyl, less than 100,000 miles on it, fully loaded, leather seats, power everything. the valuation had 2 like cars and four 2-dr coupes, not the same car. we ask for another valuation. this time there are sever 4-drs and eight 2-drs.

we are still unhappy. they only want to give us $8400 because they say our car had hi-mileage. we checked dealerships, online sources and used car lots. to replace our car would cost us around $9500. one salesman told me that to get an accord with under 100,000 miles i would hafta spend more money.

my husband calls the claims guy, he puts valuescope on a conference call with my husband and argue with him about what our car is worth.

by the time all of this has happened, we get a bill from geico with our 2 remaining cars on it, one with total coverage and the other with liability, they want almost $300 a month now. last saturday, february 7, 2009 i open more mail from geico. this time there are 2 insurance ID cards for the 2 cars that were totalled!!!! i call them, the poor csr woman hasn't a clue how that happened but she will get someone to find out and get our bill re-adjusted, again.

today is february 9, 2009, we still haven't heard from our claims adjuster or geico. we will have to settle with what they are offering because it has been entirely too long and we have a life to get on with.

be careful in dealing with geico. they are known for undervalueing cars and trying to do as little as possible to make the customer happy. but their total incompetance and lack of communication within their own company makes me wonder how they even stay in business!!
