HSBC started my account with 19.9% intrest which is ridiculous (trying to build credit up) I was a trusting soul did not even look at intrest anount for about 4 months thrn noticed thry had uprd it for no apparent reason to 29.9 I went back and looked they changed it after the 1st payment, tried to deal with customer support rude, rude rude ask for supervisor just got ruder. Then they charged my account late fees if it was not paid y at least the day before due, I thought it was until midnight of the due date. I paid online and it was dated for the day due but the said they did not receive it that day so it was my fault.

Was this an Orchard Bank card or just an HSBC card? A class action is being initiated by Plaintiffs with complaints similar to yours. The late fee was not illegal

The late fee you were charged was not illegal, nor was the hike in the interest rate. If you scroll down on the page where make your payment, it shows you when the cutoff time for online payments. Orchard Bank has a cutoff time of 4:00 pm EST. Any payments made after that time will be applied on the next business day. Your card agreement, which you agreed to adhere to when you applied for and activated your card, states that your account will be charged a late fee if your minimum due is not received by the due date. Although you made your payment on the due date, it was applied on the next day as your payment was received after 4 pm EST. You card agreement also states that your interest rates may increase due to various factors, which include late payments.
