Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
In addition to the report of Lisa Renz selling sick Chinese Crested puppy----I was also "ripped off" by this person. She sold us a very expensive Goldendoodle that has hip dysplasia in both hips. Our dog will probably be crippled by the time she is 3 or 4 years old. When we asked for compensation, she reminded us that her contract is for replacement of puppy, not money back. We were attached and loved our puppy. There was no way we could replace her. Besides, I didn't want another of her puppies.

I feel this person should not be in a dog breeding business. I am not being mean, just honest.

Breeder's Contract

#2Consumer Comment

Mon, June 08, 2009

I was reading your complaint about the breeder where you purchased your dog. I just have a couple of comments. First of all, I am so sorry that your dog has hip dysplasia. That is truly awful. I am a dog breeder also. I just wanted to let you know that it is very difficult for a breeder to financially compensate someone for a puppy that has a problem. This is a very expensive hobby and the money is usually spent before it gets here and you never know when that will be. I hope you purchased your Goldendoodle from someone that had all health clearances done on both parents. I also assume you agreed and signed a contract about the health and guarantees of your dog. Offering a replacement puppy is the usual way to deal with this. Some breeders will allow you to keep the original puppy/dog and some require them to be returned. Either way, I assume this was all in the contract. A consumer can't agree to something and then take exception to it when things don't go right. Also, even the most healthy dogs can occassionally have a defective puppy. This is of not fault of the breeder. If he/she was willing to stand by their guarantee and give you another puppy then this is a good breeder. Nothing in life is perfect or 100% guaranteed to have no problems. The likelihood of getting a second puppy from them, if the parents had clearances done, and it having those kind of problems would be slim to none. Please don't be angry with the breeder. I know it is difficult in a time such as this but it could happen to any of us and all we can do is give a new puppy and hope it makes up for it a little. That is not meant to take the place of the first one that you already love. I hope things work out for you. Thanks for listening.
