I bought a Jeep through ebay from Malibu Cars, located in Los Angeles, CA. At first I thought the transaction was going to be smooth, but when it came to actually getting them to let go of the title (which they advertised was clear) things got quite a bit more complicated.

Sun 2/15- Won Ebay auction for 97 Wrangler

Mon 2/16 Presidents day Banks closed

Tues 2/17 Wired $7,400.00 payment in full. Was told title would be mailed out as soon as money is received.

Mon 3/1 Called Lisa. Reminded her of the title I had not received yet. Jeep due in 2 days. She said "Don't worry, they were running behind and it would go out ASAP priority mail".

Fri 3/5 Called Lisa. Told her I love the Jeep, but still no title. She said "Don't worry, my guys have been out of town this week". She promised me she would send it out to me Next Day delivery.

Tues 3/9 STILL NO TITLE Called Lisa. She claimed she was in traffic at the airport and she couldn't talk right now. She said she would call me as soon as she is able.

Wed 3/10 No return call nor title. Called Lisa, left message on her voicemail that I was going to take further steps of action to gain possession of my title. Contacting ebay and LAPD tonight.

Thur 3/11 Still no return calls or title. I left message at both numbers to please contact me. Contacted the LA Better Business Bureau and filed a complaint.

Fri 3/12 - Still no return calls or title. I left message at both numbers to please contact me. Voiced that I was not going to just go away without my title and that it was in her best interest to give me my title and let me get out of her hair.

The Jeep I bought was ebay item #2460059529. Someone even changed the color of the text in the ad so it seems invibible, but if you click and drag across the ad, it clearly states they have a clear title.

Come on people, Holla if you hear me! This is a tough job to handle from Indiana. I paid very promptly and gave her absolutely no reason to delay sending my title. Her name is Lisa, and her number is 310-927-2006. Give her a call and tell her to give up my title!

One work day later and I've got a title in my hand! It shouldn't have taken the steps I had to take, but at least I now have what I paid for. And now, on to better things.....

24 Hour update! After I filed my report, assured me the title has been mailed out. We'll see.

After I filed my report and printed it off last night, I faxed it to Malibu Cars early this morning. The first positive result is the phone actually got answered instead of going to an answering system. Alex seemed like a decent guy, but said that in California it takes 2 or 3 weeks to get a title to the buyer. That seems odd to me, but I don't really care if I hear true or false at this point, I just want my title. Alex said it was in his posession and would be mailed out promptly. Then, roughly 4 hours later, Lisa, who all along kept saying the title was going out immediatly, and refused to return so many calls finally rang my cell phone. She still can't admit that at least in my instance the customer service stunk. She assured me the title has been mailed out. We'll see.
