Our a/c was not working. We called for service on a weekday, during the day, non-emergency. The tech came and quickly guessed what the problem was and replaced the dual capacitor at the compressor. He gave me the bill for $304 - $85 service call + $219 for the capacitor. I paid him using a credit card. He was gone after spending about 30 minutes at our home.
I checked on-line and found the part, same part #, for just under $20 on two sites. I called them to see if they had made a mistake and was promised the manager would call me back. After repeated phone calls for about a week, he finally called me back after I threatened to contact BBB, etc. He said they'd made a "mistake" and then asked me if I thought a $75 refund was fair. I told him I was expecting more like $100. He said "We'll give you a $75 refund! Is that okay?" I agreed as it was apparent that's all he was willing to do. Then he told me that they appreciate my business and the next time I call for service I should ask for him to "be sure to get the right price." Seriously?!? First of all, if they made a mistake on pricing the part, he should have an exact amount of the mistake, not try to negotiate a refund! Secondly, if someone needs to ask for the manager to get "the right price", is that how they do business?
I will not be calling them again and I strongly suggest that anyone seeking HVAC work of any kind to check elsewhere.
