On May, 2017 I went to the Metropcs store listed above, I’ve been going there for years. I needed an iPhone to be able to FaceTime my family who were going to Scotland to spread my mom’s ashes. I was unable to make the trip so this was my only option to be included in the memorial ceremony. I owned a Samsung galaxy at the time (which I had bought previously from Mark) but my family said I needed an iPhone. I explained this to the owner (Mark) and he suggested the iPhone 6 or 6 Plus. I chose the 6plus because of the larger screen. I asked him was it a brand new one since the price was almost $700.00. He said it was new and it also came with a 1year warranty. He took a box off a shelf and went into his office saying that he was activating it. He came out with the phone in his hand, and proceeded to take the charger out of the box. I asked him for the box and he said "you don’t need it your going to use the phone right away aren’t you?” I proceeded to ask him if it came with a manual since I’ve never owned one before. He said just play around with it and you’ll get use to it. So no manual..no box. I asked him for paperwork for the warranty and for proof of purchase, and he told me it was in his computer if I had any problems.

Everything seemed fine until I went to the Apple community website on August 25th 2018 and my question couldn’t be answered. I was directed to go to Apple support where they told me to enter my IMEI number. It said it had been rechanged and to try the serial number or MEID. Same thing came back rechanged. Right below that I noticed it said use Mark’s iPhone 6plus.

I called Apple headquarters and was informed that the phone had been activated in 2014 they gave me the man’s name and where he lived. A repair issue had been sent in for water damage and smashed screen. After that someone from China purchased the phone. The representative then connected me to a supervisor who is supposed to look into this matter. They also told me that the phone had never been registered in my name and I never had a warranty. I called Mark asking him what was going on and he started to raise his voice stating "didn’t I notice the stickers on the box? I stated you never showed me the box or stickers. I asked him why didn’t you tell me it was a refurbished phone. He said I didn’t ask him that question. I most certainly did. I would never pay that price for a used phone especially if I knew it had been damaged prior. I also asked why didn’t you register my name on the phone? His response "I never register a persons name it always is registered in my name”. As I looked deeper into the settings his name is on a few of the phones features. I took screenshots of all of it.

I feel violated. I’ve been going to this store for years and for him to lie to me is completely uncalled for. To charge someone such a astronomical price for a used product as well as the repairs it’s had on it I certainly wouldn’t of paid that price for this phone. Please help!
