I opened an Orchard Credit Card to rebuild my credit. They, like all other bad-credit, credit cards, charged about 200,00 in opening fees for a 300.00 credit limit card. I made my first payment and paid it in full. (300.00) Later, I got a cash advance from the card. Immediately after the cash advance Orchard said they had a problem with the ACH payment from my bank and charged me more fees that were double the limit. The called me over ten times a day about this issue.

I contacted my bank and paid the entire amount that they said I owed after all the fees were tagged on, (over 650.00). Then, when I tried to use the card again, it had been closed! When I contacted Orchard they accused me of trying to rip them off by getting a cash advance, even though I paid the card off in FULL again! Now, they say I have to reapply for an entire new card, paying another 200 in fees to start a new card. Orchard literally ripped me off over 400.00 in fees for a 300.00 card and after they got their money they just CLOSED the card!!!!

They were rude to me, treated me like I was insignificant, belittled me, and treated me inferior to them. That is when I decided to correct her grammar as she spoke like a hillbilly with a sixth grade education, and before ending the call, however, I did remind the supervisor I was speaking to of her place in our current existence -- a supervisor over telemarketing...and gave her a little comparative lecture on my place in this existence, (post graduate education) and informed her on Darwin's theory of survival of the fittest. The educated, not the ones with the best credit, are the fittest and will out-survive the telemarketer managers.

I work as a customer service rep. and completely support the person with the complaint. This is what consumer relations have come to. Posting our problems online because companies put money before customer satisfaction! I've had issues with HSBC (they own Orchard -- go to the Better Business Bureau site for Chicago) READ THE FINE PRINT AND GET OUT OF YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH COMPANIES LIKE THIS. Really education doesn't matter. I don't have a degree and I treat customers the way I want to be treated and I get angry when I deal with companies/employees that don't perform below my expectations: INSURANCE, UTILITIES, CREDIT CARDS, MORTGAGE, ETC. All of these last resort credit card companies are the same -- just get out of debt and save yourself the headaches. Don't turn your earnings over to these giant corporations. It's hard not to have credit cards, though.

I have had an Orchard Bank Credit Card for over 5 years. Nothing this woman says makes any sense to me. First of all, If I had a problem, Orchard immediately fixed it. I have had 3 disputes that Orchard has settled, successfully, with no cost to me and they have raised my limit 3 times. Fact is, I have absolutely nothing bad to say about Orchard Bank. Sounds like this person tried to juggle money and got caught. Her fault fot trying to scam credit card companies. Education has nothing to do with common sense and common sense tells you to read the fine print. Guess this person didn't. I have paid no charges as mentioned here. I paid no fee, up front nor any other time, to get my card. If you do not pay your bill on time there is a fee, as with any credit card company. I have gone over my limit a couple of times. No problem. I am extremely happy with the way I have been treated by Orchard Bank and intend to stay with them, even though my credit has been repaired and would be accepted elsewhere. Banks are not just Institutions, they are run by people. People react to the way they are treated. Sounds like they should have cut off this person's credit and kept it cut off. She seems rude, crude, and for all her education, ignorant of the world of finance and what is acceptable behavior.

First of all, how dare you ASSUME anything..my entire complaint was not of the amount of education ORCHARD bank's representative had, but the fact that they charged me multiple amounts of fees, and charges and then when I paid it off, they closed my account! that has nothing to do with education. The way I was treated and talked to by the supervisor was secondary and the fact that I am educated allows me the strength and perseverance to do something about it. and your ASSUMPTION that I got a cash advance to make a payment is WRONG so quit assuming! and Darwin's theory is ...FACT! and as far as I am concerned, every other theory and belief...is fiction! Including your fixed rate...Now, dont bother me anymore with your insignificant commentary that has nothing to do with why Orchard ripped me off!

According to your theory, the educated may be the "fittest" but my credit card rate is 7.9% fixed; what's yours? Proves the Darwinian theory loses here too. To be honest, your formal education doesn't impress me much. Common sense and decency rule over "that fancy book learin' stuff" every time. Judging by the condecending tone of your post, I don't think I'd want you as one of my clients either. JMHO

Your original report is a little vague on fact. Is your intent to inform consumers that you are a college student that mismanaged their finances as many of us have or that only the educated can solve a problem by belittling those who presumedly are not. I am a college graduate of a well known Ivy League School with a BS/BA. You are to be commended for furthering your education. I have 32 years of experience in all facets of business and personal finance. I also realize that creditors of this type cater to those of us that are bad credit risks. I created my own financial mess. I am concluding that your usage of ACH is to mean Automated Clearing House Network.(Your on line or bill pay service uses this). Using this conclusion I reach the following scenario. You used the card for a 'Cash' withdrawal transaction in some amount. Then made a payment to Orchard by either their on-line service or through a bill pay service. I am also concluding that the account you used to charge this payment to was your personal account. In some ways this could be considered 'kiting'. The face value is that you used their money to pay them back, fully or partially, with their money. A problem arises with that assumption because you would only have increased your debt to them. Cash advances carry a greater interest rate barring any other problems. Therefore I conclude that you got caught, payed the price and have now learned a few real life lessons. Stop using your education as a right to abuse others that are less educated. Name calling, put downs and the likes only serve those that have nothing more to add. It is a bad agenda to further. You should know by now that most people you will deal with for the rest of your life are of the same mind set as you profess. It creates a bad air among them and makes all of our jobs a bit more complicated and stressful. Good luck in your endeavors and stay away from bad credit by making sound valid choices in your financial future.

GOOD FOR YOU TOO!!!! Your degree is something no one can take away! I thought for sure someone would come back on me with a rebuttal on the last paragraph in a negative way. (Taking what I said to that supervisor, personally) I too just finished my Masters and I am working on my PHD. I teach high school in southern cal with a population of 95% English as a second language. Nevertheless, Orchard Bank is a rip-off. They took hundreds of dollars from me and when promised another chance at building credit, I got nothing but an arrogant, self-centered, self-godly, ignorant humanoid arguing with me in an attempt to convince me I was less of a human because I took a cash advance off my card, which is an option, before the ACH went through. And then had the audacity to add on an extra couple hundred is fees. I was forced to pay it, wanting to correct my credit, and they still reported me as negative, took my money, and took my card.

Let me start off by saying I am very sorry that this happened to you. Now, what I really wanted to say is, GOOD FOR YOU! Way to stick up for yourself! I just finished my master's degree and am also in a bit of credit debt. These companies can not treat us like we are inferior people!
