*ExplanationOur electric with Owen Electric was disconnected with no warning on July 14th, 2010 and not turned back on for 24 hours. It was nearly 100 degrees that day and we had every window closed while we were at work because the air conditioning was running when we left that day. When we arrived home that evening around 8:30pm from work, we had no power. We checked our last bill, and we were late, however the date on the bill they sent us gave us until the following day for the next billing cycle which would have been the 15th, and our service was disconnected on the 14th WITH NO WARNING. We called immediately and were told there was nothing they could until SOMETIME the FOLLOWING day. We have 3 cats that were locked in the 100 degree plus house from around noon that day until 8:30pm when we got home and realized what had happened. This is an absolutely absurb business practice. We have only lived in the house for two months, and had only just received our second bill due on the 15th with NO DISCONNECTION NOTICE whatsoever and no idea our service would be cut off with no warning for being late one month. We are appalled. Also, Owen Electric took a $260 security deposit from us when we moved in. If they were so concerned that we were one month late (a total of $144), could they not have simply taken that from our security deposit instead of disconnecting our service again WITH NO ADVANCED WARNING IN THE MIDDLE OF SUMMER WITH PETS LOCKED IN OUR HOME? We had just purchased over $300 in groceries that weekend, which all went bad after 24 hours with no power (from noon on the 14th until they finally showed up around noon the next day to reconnect it). Our ice maker and ice from our freezer all melted while were gone at work, and leaked all over our floor in the kitchen which we will now have to replace. The worst part is that we have NO OTHER OPTION for electric where we live, so we just have to deal with it. They should be prevented from doing this to anyone else, and be REQUIRED to MAIL A DISCONNECT NOTICE if they plan on shutting off your service unannounced in the middle of July (or anytime of the year).

*ExplanationWant Owen Electric to be forced to mail customers a disconnect notice with a date if service is in danger of being disconnected after a month. Please do not let them turn off power to someone else's home with no warning. We were lucky none of our pets died that day, but next time the next family might not be so furtunate.
