Palisade Collection/AT&T Wireless STOLEN IDENTITY WITH NO RESOLUTION! Rip-off! Approxiamately 4 years ago I found that my identity had been stolen. The person or persons involved were able to call AT&T wireless and open an account just using my name and social security number. No other identificaiton was needed at the time since I had fairly good credit. These people were able to run a bill up for 3 months for hundreds of dollars.
When I found out about this information on a credit report I called AT&T 4 years ago and was cursed out by a manager their that said I must have known the party involved. I offered to sign an affidavit form or provid them with a police report explaining to them that my information must have been recieved as a result of my car being stolen the previous month. I followed up with the issued for several weeks later, and eventually they stopped sending information and it was removed from my credit report.
Just this week I recieved a collection letter from Palisades Collection. I called AT&T wireless again, and requested to speak with the fraud department and was denied. At this point I am very frustrated and not sure what recourse I can take but would like to get an attorney involved. I can't believe that no other information was requested and that the people were able to get an account open with very little information. Although the bill they said was going to another county, AT&T still refused to investigate it any further, to find out who live at the address.
I would love to join in on a class action suit!!
