I am currently in Iraq, and the person that keeps my mail for me told me I had also won $125,000 in a sweepstakes lottery drawing on Oct 31. Apparently they included the check for $4,850 to pay the taxes, she also gave me John Anderson's number 1-416-821-0391 to call before I cash the check, with a claim number. SO since I am in Iraq, I thought it sounded fishy, I decided to check with snopes that didn't work so i googled the phone number.. Walaaaa.. This site came up.. Thank you for reporting this so others don't get scammed too. I appreciate that people do report on the internet. I am sorry you were scammed but you can help others if they are smart enough to do research first. A few months ago, I had another check for another scam, the check looked legit. I did the same thing and found out that it was a good thing I didn't cash the check. It was from a bank that probably would have lost alot of money. It is a good thing to check out things that just seem to untrue to be real.

Unless you live in a cave HOW can you not know that this is/was a scam? HUNDREDS of people have fallen for this and still it happens. As long as people let greed rule them......the scammers will continue to work this.....and get away with it. You live in TEXAS.......you get a letter saying you won a lottery? Did ya enter a lottery....in the UNITED STATES? Hmmm probably not huh? Then why the hell would someone from CANADA be sooooooo kind hearted as to just send a stranger some 4 grand.......and YOU CASHED / DEPOSITED IT!!!!! Now you owe the bank .....and the bank WILL get their money outta you.....one way or the other, make NO mistake about that.
