I cancelled with Strasburg Inn in VirginiaFebuary reservations made on February 10 (the same day they were made. This cancellation was affirmed by the reservations employee. However when reviewing my statement I saw a charge of $97.90 on 2/15/09for the cancelled reservations. On the 10th, we had a dear friend die and thus we abruptly cancelled our hotel reservations for the 14th and the dinner reservations made for the evening of the 14th.

I was assured by the hotel employee who took my call that this would be done. The following morning, 2/11. I followed up my cancellation by sending the hotel an email explaining the reason for the cancellation and again I confirmed by phone hat the hotel room and the dinner reservation had to be cancelled. On the evening of the 14th - about 10 pm - I received a phone call questioning if we would be using our dinner reservation, At that time I noted that we had previously (on the 10th) cancelled both the room and dinner reservation. The hotel representative apologized and affirmed that she would correct your records.

Since the above contacts, Barbara, iidentified to me as the person who would have to issue credit for the 2/14 room charge, advised that one of the owners would have to approved the crediting to my credit card account. This seems unreasonable since the Inn has a policy for crediting room charges if cancelled 24 hours in advance of the date reserved ( 2/14-2/10 = 48 hours) Anyway Barbara was to check with one of the owners and then get back to me. This never happened. So --- on March 23 I again called Barbara who admitted that she had not yet contacted one of the owners about this charge, but was to do so now and then she would call be back.

Again, this call back has not occurred. I fail to understand why a business as large as this Inn can't follow though on its commitments to the public. Anyway, I am convinced that this Inn's management is not concerned about ther publicor its potential patrons so long as it is able to collect money for no services rendered via credit card theft. This is rather shabby treatment anytime, but this ruined our 50th Wedding Anniversary. Due to this unprofessional treatment by the Inn staff and the failure to return my room charges, I will not patronize the Inn and I recommend tha you also tae your business elsewhere.
