II called Survival (Car Insurance Brokerage), and was hooked up with Villanova through them. On January 16, 2002 my boyfriend was in an accident in my vehicle. Some woman turned in front of him and he was unable to stop in time. The woman took off from the scene of the accident leaving my car totaled. My car was towed and impounded.

I had full coverage insurance at the time, including uninsured motorist. My vehicle was on a lease. When I made the call to Villanova, they didn't want to cover my claim because my boyfriend had been driving it (keep in mind that he was not excluded from the policy). I had a baby the same day of the accident so I was unable to file the claim immediately. By the time they decided that they would cover my claim, it was already a month later.

They were unwilling to get my car out of impound, and I was told that I would be reimbursed if I paid to get it out and paid for towing. I even purchased the police report for them. All of that was about $500 expenses out of my pocket. I was not given a rental car and to this day have not been reimbursed.

The man they sent to access the damage wrote on the report that it was only $7,000 worth. When I took it to the body shop, they wouldn't even fix it because of the condition it was in. When I showed the body shop the report and the damages assessed at $7,000 they literally laughed in my face. Half of the stuff that was wrong with my car was not even on the report. My car's motor was completely cracked and that was nowhere to be found on the report.

When I told my claim representative, he told me to call the guy to come out and access the damage again. Would you believe it? When I called the guy that had accessed the damage, he told me the company no longer employed him.

So here it is two and half months after the accident and I have no car, no money, and a newborn baby. My boyfriend was injured in the accident and we contacted an attorney right away. The attorney recently dropped my case because there was no money in it. The insurance company Villanova had gone into rehabilitation and had stopped all payments on all claims.

In May, Ford came and repossessed my car. I know owe Ford $14,000 for my car. My credit report is ruined, and I am only 21. I will most likely have to claim bankruptcy since Villanova is still in rehibilitation and I doubt that my claim will be paid. My old attorney told me that usually in cases like mine, only 10% of the claim would be paid if the company is liquidated.

BEWARE of Survival. Every time I see their commercials on TV I get so mad. I paid for car insurance, and because I chose the wrong one I no longer have a car and I am in debt. There should be laws against this kind of thing. False Advertising.

To top it all off, the airbags didn't deploy and the vehicle speed at time of impact was 40-45 mph. My boyfriend, his sister, and his sister's husband all received minor injuries. They were unable to go to the doctor because of Villanova, and lost out on work. I was unable to work because I just had the baby so we barely had enough to pay for diapers.

Now it is September 20, 2002 and Villanova is still in rehabilitation. I have to wait another month before they go to court again. I have lost all hope of receiving any kind of compensation. Businesses should not be allowed to do these kinds of things to people.

Please...be careful when purchasing auto insurance. This could happen to you!

I worked for an insurance broker (EZ Choice Insurance) a few years back and we wrote for a company by the name of Express General. They were a solid company had grate rates and none of my clients ever had a problem with them. They came out with another program by the name of VEST FIRE the guild lines were very similer to the original program OCEAN HARBOR, a period of time went by and the company grew, then a customer had an accident and it was paid. a few months past other claims have occured and paid next thing i know the commision check they wrote out to brokers were BOUNCING!! Claims stopped being paid and the VISTA program was terminated and claimed bankrupt. This was nothing any broker could control the insurance companies only tell us so much, so please if the insurance company you have is giving you a problem talk to your agent and ask to be switched it is not the problem of the broker that the insurance company failed the agent must notify his managment about the insident so the can speak to the company or stop writing for the program. And remember when dealing with insurance agent. We must all be licensed by the Department of Insurance so we are not out to still you money if the agent is not licensed RUN away from that company it's not an ethical company.
