Review your original contract thoroughly. Make sure you cancelled it correctly. If you did: Send a CERTIFIED letter to the collection agency demanding validation of the debt. There is NO 30-day limit for this. You were simply lied to by professionally trained liars. Once the collection agency receives your letter they may NOT make any further collection attempts via phone or letter until you have received the validation. If they do, EACH violation is worth $1000 + legal fees in your pocket. Not too bad, eh? If they attempt to smear your credit rating before validation that counts as a violation as well. Go for the $1000. Plenty of lawyers will take these cases since the legal fees are included. Don't back down.......
