Boy, I wish I had checked www.ripoffreport.com before I did business with this company, "again". Jeff in Brea, California filed a report last year and it sounds exactly like my story. Keep reading!!!

I ordered a really nice flat bed trailer three years ago from Tony Stout, the owner of TNT Aluminum Trailer, Inc. and didn't have a lick of trouble.

This March of 2005 I decided to have TNT build me a really special enclosed trailer for my custom wheelchair trike. The trailer amounted to over $20,000.00. I didn't have a problem giving Tim (Tony's Brother) the 50% deposit he required because of my good dealings with them in the past.

I spent weeks working with Tim putting my order together. The trailer is supposed to be delivered the first half of June (today is May, 31) and NO ONE will return my calls, emails or faxes. I have left message after message with Shelley and all she says is: "I will make sure he gets the message". It doesn't seem to matter how infuriated I get, she stays cool as a cucumber.

I am not sure what to suspect. I have checked the Virginia Department of Corporations website and TNT Aluminum Trailer, Inc. is delinquent. They owe the state for the annual filing fee ($ 100.00). There website is now shutdown also.

I have contacted my attorney and have now choice but to file some type of suit. With $10,000.00 at stake I cannot just roll away!!!

Listen to me and Jeff from Brea, California. Don't bother doing business with this company. The stress is not worth it. And, I don't know if I will ever see my trailer or money!

All of your comments from Tony are similar to what I received. I believe Tony did committ fraud. It seems that the money he took in for deposits were never used for anything but to pay off prior liabilities. If we could prove this, then maybe Tony would have to face legal charges. I think we need to join forces and come up with a game plan. If anyone wants to contact me, please email me. (((ROR REDACTED EMAIL FOR SECURITY PURPOSES))) I don't think I will get my money back, but I want justice to be served to Tony. Thanks, Jim Jacksonville, FL CLICK here to see why Rip-off Report, as a matter of policy, deleted either a phone number, link or e-mail address from this Report.

TNT Aluminum Trailers - Tony Stout is the King of Rip OFF artists

I put an 50% / $9,000 deposit, in 2002, for a trailer to be built. The trailer was never built and Tony never refunded any of my money. I sent numerous letters and made several call to Tony but he blew me off. I hired a lawyer and spoke to the VA authorities, but nothing happened. I do keep hearing from the VA Police, they tell me Tony is still ripping people off. Although I don't think that the jerk will ever return any of my money or build me a trailer, I do hope that everyone can read this and realize what type of a person he is. I might have lost my money, but I still have my integrity, something Tony can't even spell. Please don't just beware of this guy, stay AWAY!

Marie: Thank you for all the helpful information. I would like to assist you with some of the expense. I will contact the officials you mentioned in your rebuttal to determine how I can assist. Presently, I am laid up due to my disability and my health cannot afford a long drive from south Florida to VA or I would offer to meet you there for a "show of strength". Thanks, James Bonita Springs, FL

I'll be in the NoVA area June 14th through 16th.. I'd be glad to drop by and take a gander if it's in the NoVA area.. Well... Looking, if it's the one in Cumberland, afraid that's a bit (150 miles) out of the way for me, however, the website is back up if that says anything.

Looks like a small business with financial problems. In this day and age, who doesn't have some?

This could turn out all right in the end. You'll have to wait and see. It looks like they may be having some problems running their business. I could overlook that, if they had bothered to keep the paying customers informed as to what is going on. If the trailers are actually delivered, this whole thing won't be so bad.

Original Report Update

#14Author of original report

Tue, July 05, 2005

Wow... I am shocked at the amount of responses received regarding my initial report. I don't know how to respond to all of you, but I will bring you up-to-date. I have finally gotten response(s) from TNT. No..., Tony or Tim have not called me but I have received correspondence. I have a faxed letter dated 6/8/2005 which, in a nutshell, is a smoke screen for not having returned dozens of phone calls, faxes and emails over several weeks. I would type the content of the letter, but it is two pages long. The time spent dictating the letter would have been better served with a response to anyone of my previous requests. Then, I received an original letter dated 6/6/2005 and postmarked 6/9/2005. Draw your own conclusions from the dates of the correspondence. It is a short letter so I will type the body for you to read. Dear Jim: I regret having to inform you that we have experienced several setbacks which have caused substantial delays in our production schedules. I apologize for the inconvenience and concern which this may have caused you. Rest assured that we are working to complete your trailer as soon as possible. We are extending all production dates 15 to 30 days. We will contact you to let you know a more accurate date of completion for your trailer. Again, I apologize for the delay in production of your unit and hope that you can appreciate our position. Sincerely, Tony Stout, President TNT Aluminum Trailers, Inc. I am in a waiting mode right now. But, if anyone of you is traveling to VA to checkup on the status of your own trailer and can get some pictures of mine, I will gladly share in the cost of your trip.

June or May? RIP OFF REPORT to the RESCUE

#15Consumer Suggestion

Sat, June 25, 2005

Okay I am confused here. You were to get your unit in June but filed a Rip Off Report in May before you were to receive your unit? Have they gone under or what? Did they demad the rest of the payment? What is their address I can cruze by for you. RIP OFF REPORT to the RESCUE!

Another valuable lesson learned. Something that is good today can turn bad at the drop of a hat.

Just because you get one good deal from a company, does that mean you can trust them from now on? Based on this, it looks like the answer is no. Looks like the lesson here is that you always try to keep all the money in your pocket until you can buy the finished item. You take a risk when you advance money for materials or as a deposit. Even if you did fine with the company in the past. It's like a tornado. Clear skies one second. Two minutes later, the whole world is being sucked into a funnel cloud. Unless you can demonstrate a clear-cut case of fraud to a court, it's likely this is a civil matter. And, unfortunately, it's not against the law to finally coast to a stop and go out of business. Bankrupt. While they are in possession of your money. There are a million different ways and counting to end up getting cheated. You have to be so careful. How can I get cheated? Am I vulnerable at any point in time here? When you sit down and examine all the possible scenarios, it makes a person want to just stay home with the door locked and the shades drawn. Forget it all. From now on, I'm never agreeing to buy anything ever again!

They have my deposit for a custom built enclosed unit as well. My complaint is now registered as well. What are our options legally? I think I am traveling there next week to check them out, but I don't seem to have much of a choice, do I?
