Yesterday a mail arrived. The announcement originated from Singapore:

******** OFFICIAL GRAND SLAM WINNER******** "CONGRATULATIONS" (MyName) you're a

GRAND SLAM WINNER ( ) GRAND SLAM NOMINATED (X) GRAND SLAM WINNER.

(MY NAME) has WON a GRAND SLAM!!!!

[Contained in the letter is a list of 32 names, paired into 16 groups, and by the process of

elimination pared down to 16 pairs, then 8 pairs, then 4 and finally into 2. I am now paired to other

one person. If I send $10.00 to Locked Bag 32, Bundall , QLD 4217 Australia, I claim my GRAND

SLAM number allocation].

********OFFICIAL GRAND SLAM WINNER********* has been displayed very prominently three times.

There is a price bar and a telephone number for customer service.

There is no amount or prize indicated for the grand slam.

Windsor-Morgan & Parker's associate, Haplin Data Services, has as its address as the recipient

for the $10. The return envelope is addressed to Research Department, not mentioning the Haplin

Services Connection.

In the letter, by the way, the text color of Haplin Data Services as printed has almost the same color

as the background, making it easy to miss reading.

What to do? I slammed the return envelope into the wastebasket with haste.

November 3, 2006. Not identical but similar letter to a previous posting (reproduced below) came

to the mail. This time I am the GRAND SLAM WINNER (printed in distinctive ink). My name is the

only remainder at the end of the elimination. To claim my GRAND Slam allocation number, I have

to send them $10.00.

When and where is getting an allocation number a GRAND SLAM prize? Only when you have to pay

a fee!

Had the letter announced that I am a winner of $1,000,000 and is given a form to claim the prize,

that would be grand slam.

Just exercise a little of care in perusal. And do not ever pay. The letter is selling me a chance to

win, although it sounds like I am already a winner.
