May 17th 2005 World Moving Services was contracted to move my household items from a residence in Colorado to a residence in Tampa, FL. They subcontracted the move to another company, Soraghan Moving & Storage out of Tinley Park, IL. Soraghan picked up my household goods about 10,000 pounds of goods on May 23rd, 2005. Since then, I have not seen ANY of my household items! I have contacted both World Moving Services and Soraghan an numerous occasions and got the run-around. Two months after my items had been picked up, I was told by Soraghan that their truck had been stolen and that they were trying to recover my things. I kept calling Soraghan for an update, but they wouldn't return my calls. I called World Moving Services too, and they just blew me off.

I received a call from World Moving Services, June 16, 2007 that Soraghan was trying to get a hold of me to deliver my household goods. Now they are holding my things hostage unless I pay a very large sum of money. I did find out that Soraghan has over 99 complaints within the last 36 months, with 1 resolution. World Moving Services should have know about these complaints or should have not contracted out my move to a company that has a fraudulent history! I still am waiting to see what happens. Soraghan is going out-of-business (what a shock) and World Moving Services should be shut down as well for complete incompetence in business practices.

I Don't Know If I Would Have Them Deliver...?

#2Consumer Suggestion

Tue, June 26, 2007

Given the time lapse, my guess is that you either won't get all of your items back, or many of the items will be busted or scratched beyond repair. And to add insult to injury, the mover won't unload anything off the truck until you pay the amount they're requesting. I suspect you probably have replaced the items purchased if it has indeed been 2 years since your items were picked up, and your homeowners insurance (or their GL insurance) paid for the items that were "stolen". Unless there are really sentimental items on the truck, I don't know if I would want them to come and do an unload because I'm guessing they're going to ask for $$ in the amount of maybe $8K to $9K (am I in the ballpark?). If you were paid by the insurance company (regardless of which one) for the items claimed to be stolen, these items on the truck don't belong to you any longer; the items became the property of the insurance company. You might want to give the insurance company a call and see if they want "their" stuff....? BTW, that would be a good way to stick it to the moving company as well..... World Moving Services is a broker - and brokers are bad news in the moving industry. They retain very little duty (as you found out) and the services you contracted them for absolve them of any and all responsibility regarding the choosing of a mover. Next time, don't use a broker!!! The best way to put brokers out of business is not to use them. Either do the move yourself or hire a reputable (brick and mortar, not someone on the internet!!) mover - even if the cost seems high. I guarantee a reputable mover will take less than 2 years to deliver your goods and if the contract is binding not-to-exceed, you won't pay more than that amount contracted for. Moving is not an inexpensive venture - if it seems too good to be true, it is. Stay off the internet to find a mover - only use it to research them.
