The item received is not as described. My email for help has gone unanswered.

2/9/17: After submitting a request for more info on a used engine, I received an email quote from Andy Jackson with AM Auto Parts describing a used engine with 103k miles on it being offered for $750 which would include delivery. It partially read:

"Reference # 1168805

AM Used Auto Parts is pleased to offer the part(s) you have requested for your 97, Jeep, Cherokee.

Auto Part: Engine / Motor (Complete)

Description: 6-242 (4.0L, VIN S, 8th digit)

Mileage: 103k

Quoted Price: $750.00

Total Quote: $750.00

Tax: $0.00

Total w/ Tax: $750.00"

2/10/17: I emailed back with questions confirming the mileage, price, and just how it would be delivered ie., to my house or to a business with a dock. That email went unanswered.

2/14/17: After still not hearing anything, I purchased the engine. I didn't want a low mileage engine to slip through my hands.

2/16/17: After hearing nothing from them, but having my credit charged I emailed asking how long it would be before shipping.

2/21/17: Andy finally emailed with, "We quote 3-10 days."

2/28/17: Andy emails with the following, "Need a business address to ship to. Please respond asap." I immediately responded reminding him that this is a question I had previously asked. Now I would be responsible for securing a delivery location. This was unheard of. He responded simply with, "Need a business address to ship and you have to have a way to unload."

3/1/17: After spending all day on the phone, I was able to find a dock that would accept the delivery on my behalf. I forwarded that info to Andy in an email. Later, I received shipping info.

3/7/17: The dock informed me that the engine had arrived.

3/8/17: I picked it up.

The engine was wrapped in plastic, laying on its side, and strapped to a pallet. After getting it home, unwrapped, and onto a stand I was surprised at the condition. What wasn't covered with caked on grease and oil was rusted or broken. I power-washed it off and decided to do what is called a 'leak down' test. It is a test used to determine what kind of condition a non-running engine may be in. Five of the six cylinders failed the test, both times. It was determined that the engine probably has significantly more miles than advertised and would need to be rebuilt before using. I was hoping to put this into a vehicle with 267k miles that is, frankly, in much better shape than this engine with a reported 103k miles.

3/12/17: I emailed Andy with my concerns and asking for guidance. As of this writing on 4/21/17 I have not heard back from him or anyone associated with the business.
