I bought a bed and mattress in January 2001 with the NO INTEREST,

NO PAYMENT PLAN FOR ONE YEAR. Right, I made the payment in January 2002, it was $300 shy of the entire balance, planning on paying the $300 in February 2002. When I received that bill for February 2002 it included $354 in finance charges. They explained that since I did not pay the entire amount I was being billed for all of 2001 interest at 24% interest. The bill I received in January 2002 said the minimim payment due was $42 and said nothing about if I did not pay the entire amount I would be accuring $354 in interest for the year 2001. I sent them $900. This procedure was not explained to me when the salesman sold me the bedroom set, I also went back in July 2001 and brought a dresser that payment is not due until July 2002.

They took my $900 and applied $598 to the July 2002 purchase. Also when we moved the bed that we bought in January that they put together we could not get it apart because of the way they assembled it. This company is a big rip off, with incompetent, people working for them. Beware of their no payment and no interest for a year plan. Because if you cannot make the entire payment on that due date they will sock it to you.

I find it hard to believe that anyone who has credit, has recieved credit or has ever used credit does not know what 12 months same as cash is? In all finance paperwork it clearly states that interest will accrue during the 12 month period and should the balance be paid in full prior to the experation of the 12 months no finance charge will be imposed. It is also true that all same as cash promotions get a monthly statement indicating that interest is accrueing, the end date of the promotion,as well as the pay off balance on the account. Simply written going past the end date of the promotion is choosing to pay interest on the loan. I would suggest a guardian to handle your finances.
