I am so very glad that this company is finally getting some kind of repremand. I am still working diligentely in trying to get them put out, not just in my state(MD), put accross the nation. This may be the big break we all needed. I resently complained to the BBB of San Jose and gave them detailed information into this company. This was one of the BBB's that elected to refuse to help. I was told via letter that this was not in their scope of business. That they forwarded all my informtion to the company so that the company could address the problems and alleged scam with myself personally. They couldn't find a real address nor a real phone number but somehow found a realiable fax number. Amazing isn't it? Anyway, I'll look the information you've provided up and then address my report on them along with a rebuttal to the other reports on this company. I just hope I can somehow get my money they owe me before their completely gone, God knows I really need it. But, Congratulations on your accomplishment, A step towards the breakdown of this scam and thank you.

Well, my mother received a letter from the Contractor's State Licensing Board asking her for some more information. So out of curiosity I logged onto their website and once again looked up California Overhead Door. To my amazement, I noted that they have a "Complaint Disclosure" area added on to their page:
Here are the complaint numbers:
N A 2001 016731 04/25/2002 RECOMMENDED FOR LEGAL ACTION
N A 2001 010860 04/25/2002 RECOMMENDED FOR LEGAL ACTION
N A 2001 007862 05/09/2002 REFERRED TO LEGAL ACTION Case #N 2001 000552
N A 2001 005930 04/25/2002 RECOMMENDED FOR LEGAL ACTION
You can go into each of these complaint numbers and see all of the violations they are being cited for. WOW!!!! Unbelievable. And of course, the last violation in EACH one is that the "Licensee failed to cooperate in the investigation". No surprise there.....
The violations are:
Home Improvement Contract Violation
False, misleading, deceptive advertisement
Fraud involving contract document
License name style variation
Failed to comply with Contractor's License Law
Contracted without Home Improvement Certification
Violation of the building laws of the state
So keep the faith! Maybe we all had a little bit to do with this. I'd like to think so!

Just a follow-up on my report regarding California Overhead Door. My mother first wanted to go through the company itself, to try to get her money back. Guess what? The "office manager", Annie, did not know where the owner was! Every time my mom called, she had the same answer. So......on to the reporting. They have been reported to the BBB, the California State Licensing Board, the District Attorney's office in San Jose, the Consumer Affairs Board and the Office of the Attorney General. I also found an attorney (during my internet searches) in Texas who is already looking into this company, and I sent him everything I have found on them. He said I was the second person who had contacted him in the past couple of weeks (Dale perhaps?). He also told me that what these folks do is purchase a bank of telephone numbers like they have many locations, when in fact they are usually located out of a home. Hence, the addresses that are only storefronts. What a scam! I certainly hope they get what they deserve.

I am one of the former employees in the maryland area, I also have put a report on this site. I know exactly what they did to your parents. Unfortunately, their favorite rip off are against the elderly and handicap, and they get away with it because most don't realized they've been screwed. The company and ALL of their aliases strive on this approach and make sure they teach their employees how to do this. The pushy approach is how they usually get by on people. They'll talk real fast, most of the time not even knowing what their talking about, and rip people off. When I first started their the boy they had me with started telling this guy that his garage door was falling apart for the stranges reasons, I've been in the garage door business for ten years, so I had to step in and explain why his door was really falling apart.
Going to the BBB really won't help, in fact, you may find them getting wierd phone calls, people calling harassing them and threatening them, if that happens, have them file a police report asap. Please check out my report on the BBB's and CBBB. If you filed a complaint, look back on their reliability report in about a week or so, you may be very shocked to find that all of a sudden they'll become members with a satisfactory rating. Buy definately file a complaint with their attorney generals office, you can do this via' the net. Tell them the situation as you did above, let them know other attorney general offices have gotten involved to shut them down, print out ALL the reports on them (every garage door report on this site ARE a Precision company or alias), forward that to them or mail it, send them a copy of their "work contract." They WILL help. I am tring to rid the US of their scam, but I am only one person, if more people come forward, the more help we get and the quicker we shut them down.
I am truely soory that they did this to your parents. I hope you read my reports. I just wish there was more I could do to help you.
Good Luck!!
