I booked a cruise last night with cheapcruises.com. This morning I
discovered that the ship I was booked on had a fire onboard, namely The
Granduer of the Sea. When I called to cancel they informed me that they
could not return the money I had paid for insurance (I never ok'd any
insurance.) Evidentally you have to uncheck a box or you get it whether
you want it or not. After being held on the phone for about 30 minutes
I eventually got that removed. The next surprise was that my booking fee
of $100 dollars would not be refunded. This little ditty is in the Terms of
Acceptance, but not mentioned anywhere else that I could see. You need
click on a different link to find those terms. Then I was told that the trip
could not be cancelled unless I authorized them to bill my credit card for
fee. Stuck between a rock and a hard place was I....I can only say unless
you read absolutely all the fine print that this company provides you are
going to get nailed. This is a sneaky company, and I recommend
booking straight with the cruise line, because the prices were the same.
Shame on them!
