1245 McClellan Dr. is a scam and a ripoff. The walls and ceiling are unfortunately very thin. This means that noise is constantly an issue. I could tolerate that if CREI, the managers (Karl and Lisa Niehaus and their people), didn't treat people who paid their salaries like crap.
They are just not responsive to repairs / maintenance - and THEY live here. They never fix the jacuzzi and I got hurt using it. People keep stealing my UPS/Fedex packages and they do nothing about it! One time I was waiting on my medication and it was really terrible.
Beware to any potential tenants thinking about renting from Karl and Lisa Niehaus - they will not respect tenant rights. They will lord over you the fact that the building is not zoned rent control. They will use whatever tools they can to put you on the street. Just for complaining to them, they have sent me some menacing letters. Frankly, I think that Karl and Lisa just don't like Jews. I suspect they are anti-Semites.

We are very disappointed to read these lies and deformation of character attempts through cyber bullying. Considering the management company’s name is posted throughout the building and on their lease, it does not seem possible that “tenants” could mistake the name of the management company in their own property. CREI has never been involved in any way with this property, these are lies. Numerous parties have also been named in this complaint who have never even seen the building, their names have simply been gleaned from public websites, more lies. Just so it is clear, the 3 & 5 year old children named in their complaint also have nothing to do with this building. What kind of person targets a 3 & 5 year old when they cyber bully? This building is 100% occupied and units are typically pre-leased before they become vacant, since the demand for them is so high. We have numerous tenants who have moved back into the building after years abroad or after leaving LA for a while. In all the years of on-site management, we have only ever issued one written notice (as referenced in their complaint) for a tenant to move out of the building. The notice was issued after numerous sanitation and smell complaints from neighbors and ownership, which were ignored. Not only did the tenants ignore the sanitation complaints, they continued. The thing that is confusing is, if this is such a horrible place to live (as referenced in their complaint) and they have been asked to leave, why are they fighting to stay? This is clearly a disgruntled tenant who is angry about the sanitation rules and that their neighbors keep complaining. This is a health concern for all the other tenants and hence the request to leave.
