ok so maybe you heard, but the old fingerhut shutdown in 2002 after federated ran it into the ground (was around since 46 so despite problems it was able to make money) anyways, regarding your question. accounts recievables was bought out by CompuCredit (www.compucredit.com). A lot of the accounts were probably sold to other collections or credit companies trying to collect on good and/or bad accounts. if you pull a credit report, your 16 digit account number may (probably) will appear on your credit report so you can use that to get through to them, maybe call compucredit directly. they are out of atlanta so not sure if they're even going to know whats going on when everything is still handled out of st. cloud. think its shady what compucredit does, hides behind the old fingerhut name and doesn't let people talk to reps. as far as ppl talking about being billed for something that they didn't rcv... i know it sucks but in the old terms in conditions of your catolog you have a certain amnt of time to claim that in which case an investigation would have been done. good luck trying to get somebody at compucredit (which is just bill collectors) to waive fees for something from 5 years ago that wasn't reported (even if it was they won't even have that cuz all those records are on federated's machines probably) good luck, you can always write them disputing your balance which legally means they have to freeze your account, investigate and so on according to law, at least thats what us old fingerhut reps were told
