Solicitor came to our house, asked if we were using ADT security (the sign was on the property) My husband said no, we just bought the house.  She acted llike she was from ADT stating that if all the equipment was still in tact, service could be started up for no fee at a cost of $1 a day.  She asked to see the alarm panel and sensors.  She asked more questions and entered everything into an I Pad that she kept complaining was not working properly.  She kept poking it with her finger and shaking it.  She did not ask if we wanted to start the service , then said we could pay by "auto pay" and asked for a voided check and to sign for authorization on her I pad.

I asked my husband if he was sure he wanted the service (we were both at the table with the  salesperson.)  He told her that we would just like to try it for a few months,  She nodded.  She handed me the I Pad to sign in a signature box which was all I could see.  I said I could not see what I was signing,  *(I did not want to sign what I could not see)  She indicated it was to authorize Auto Pay, Never gave us a copy of what I signed, never emailed it to me as I asked, did not fully disclose that what I actually signed was a 5 year contract.  I would never do that knowingly.  She gave us a brochure, that is when I found out she was not from ADT.  They promised to monitor our house and call fire or police for any activation.

The system never worked properly.  When I complained, they offered no help.  Getting through to them on the phone takes hours on hold, most times never getting through.  Almost daily we received emails stating that our system had not responded to their server for many hours at a time.  This didnt'seem to be working.  How can you monitor something that is not connected?? I they new it wasn't working and could send emails, why didn't they send out someone to fix it?? I think that would have been their excuse had our house been broken into or burned down.

When we finally had enough, my husband tried numerous times to reach them to cancel the service.  He could never get through.  One time they promised to have someone call back, they never did.  When I finally reached an employee, I was told (for the first time) that I could not cancel because I signed a 5 year contract.  Well that was a total surprise to me.  I argued with them for 30 minutes,  On a later call I argued with them for another 30 minutes.  I was told I would have to request to cancel in writing.  I did.  I was told my request could not be processed.  Never saw a contract until their debt collector sent me a copy in font so small that I cannot read most of it.

The contract also shows we entered into the contract in Auburn, California and the equipment was installed at our old address.  Looking online, we found numerous others who fell to their con game.  Someone on the nextdoor website wrote that Fluent puts you on a 5 year contract without telling you.  Now they want us to pay $3780.  Two months ago they said we owed $2870.  We refuse to be extorted by liars and thieves.  I believe they take advantage of seniors who want to be safe-ELDER ABUSE.  They need to be shut down, they are nationwide with their main office in Utah I believe.
