Two young girls, Ashley & Katie Gregory, ( Ashley a young supposed Phillipino African American and Katie a bright blond white girl w/ an upper lip silver stud piercing) solicited my apt supposedly working on a communications project for school. They were "practicing" by selling magaizine subscriptions for points to win a trip to an exotic location in Cancun, Bermuda & other places.

I asked if they had the mgmt permission to solicit on the property as it is supposed to be prohibited. They indicated thier sponsor had done so.

Thinking they were legit, I heard them out and then got suckered into ordering two magazine subscriptions for $28 & $30 each, plus $12 S&P for a total of $82. I found it odd that they could only accept cash or check. Not having a checking account locally, I drove to ATM, they followed in large silver Ford cargo van, driven by what appeard to be a small-medium build hispanic male.

I acquired the cash, they provided these cheap receipts and bolted saying they had others waiting to be picked up.

Fool that I was, it was not until later after searching Internet that I learned of SunShine Subscription Agency being a scam.

I intend on trying to recover my money, but I seriously doubt I can. It was cash and was probably used to buy alcohol and dope.

I can only hope others find this before they too get taken.

I notified the apt mgmt. and local police in hopes they be shut down.

Live & learn, you just can't trust common people anymore.

This same girl (Katie Gregory, blonde with lip piercing) visited me outside Charlotte, North Carolina. Very similar story, very similar tactic. Her story was that she was a local and trying to raise money to go to school at a local university. I wanted a subscription but refused to pay their processing fee. She agreed to waive it, stating she was going to pay for it out of her own pocket so she could get the "points" for the sale. I gave her a check, she left, I spoke with a buddy and then found this site, and immediately got in my car and tracked her down in my neighborhood. She was at the entrance to the neighborhood waiting to be picked up. I demanded my check back telling her that I discovered her companies shady business practives. She didn't want to give it back, but after threatening to call the police, and dialing 911 on my phone, she finally agreed. I tore the check up and told her to have a good day. She was NOT happy about this at all. Suspicious of her not really being a local, I asked her what high school she went to. Her immediate response was that she was home schooled. I am pretty sure she knew I was on to her scam.
