Problem: | On March 17th, 2016 I purchased and paid for a domain from GoDaddy. The domain name was CarInsuranceGuide.net and it had a fixed price which I paid. I agreed to the terms and conditions and paid Godaddy $35.16. After purchasing the domain I spent a significant amount of money having a logo and banner designed for the CarInsuranceGuide.net website as well as 30 articles all written specifically for the website and finally had a web designer build a custom made for my new website. The cost for all the design work and article content was $442.20 On March 26th the site designer had completed the design and was ready to begin adding in the articles, logo, banners etc so that the site could go live so they requested the GoDaddy information from me. When I logged into GoDaddy on Saturday March 26th I didn't see the domain listed in the domains that I owned and controlled so I called GoDaddy to inquire why it wasn't listed. The GoDaddy representative said that GoDaddy had refunded me the monies on or around march 20th but he could not tell me why I had been refunded. The GoDaddy representative said it was Easter Sunday several departments were closed so he recommended that I call back on Monday or Tuesday when they were at full staff. I called Today Tuesday March 27th, 2016 and spoke to another Google Representative. He also saw that the monies had been refunded but he could NOT definitively tell me why I had been refunded. He said that "his best guess" was that the domain had been put up for sale because it had expired (the previous owner didn't pay the renewal fees so it was put up for sale) and that I bought it. The representative then told me that GoDaddy then sold me the domain and SOMETIME AFTER I PURCHASED THE DOMAIN the past owner contacted GoDaddy and agreed to pay a significant penalty fee to have the domain returned to them. The representative couldn't tell me that is what happened but it was his best guess at why I was refunded my initial $35.16. Desired Resolution / Outcome
GoDaddy has had a terrible attitude with me over this whole affair. They are a large company that simply does as it pleases with very little interest in a small customer like me. The fact that no one at GoDaddy can even tell me why this is happening and that they never made any effort whatsoever to reach out to me is completely unacceptable. I am astonished by their lack of compassion that I have spent a lot of time, money and effort on all of this and their own employees attitude is literally its unfortunate for you but there is NOTHING you can do about it and the GoDaddy representative who I spoke to today told me that "complaining to the BBB is a waste of your time". |
