I move around a lot, and while in harligen TX I went to Golds Gym, to workout, the manager showed me around, It was the only gym in town with a steam room and sauna, with what appeared to be the latest generation of exercise equipment.

The manager told me there was a new membership where I could workout at any Golds gym in the USA for a monthly fee of 27 $, with a 100 $ activation fee. I agreed and signed his documents and worked our 2 or 3 times in august 2013 the month I was in harligen. Then over the next couple of months each golds gym I visited told me Golds gym were franchises with a membership to be paid at each franchise, so I paid from 15 $ a workout to 10 $, and one in belton texas let me workout once as a complimentary offere because I had been misled by the harligen golds gym.

After the first gym that advised me the membership was good at golds in harligen, I advised my NavyArmy Credit Union, and had My bank card number changed so the auto withdrawal would not go through. I called golds in harligen and asked for a refund, but the manager insisted the membership was good at all golds gyms, After giving him details he stil insisted his story was true while adding some things he did not tell me when I agreed.

I do not charge things I pay for what I need when I need it, and without any credit history and a couple of ID Thefts in the last 5 years, I went to rent a car when mine was in the shop only to be told my credit was no good. when before it was good for car rentals.

I called the gym manager back and asked if he hjad reported a negative report to credit bureaus and he said he did, and that I was behind on my membership. Its almost a joke as I told him he would regret lieing to me, then he tried to imply I wqs threatening him. I am 70 years old he around 25 or 30, and he clearly misled me, still insisting the membership was good anywhere, insisting I continue to pay for the worthless membership. Now when I workout at golds I pay the day rate, and am seriously considering discontinuing to workout at golds anywhere, but, some golds the people are nice,

When I went to workout at harlign golds the steam room never worked, and many of the machines were defective, finding one where the heart monitor worked often took me to several machines before I found one that worked.

Golds gym in harligen will likely not still be there soon as the shopping center space is expensive and many good gyms in harlingen charge 10 $ a month to workout. It was sort of nice to be working out with a handful of people there, but the equipment was in bad repair, and the gym manager is a liar, telling people lies about memberships.

I rate it 2 out of a possible 10 because the principle reason I joined was the staem room which never worked, and the equipment was in bad repair, one one machine it hurt my leg, as the weight fell to the ground several feet below where it was positioned when I tried it out. The gym should be closed as it represents a danger to older people
