International Profit Associates are a smooth rip off group.
My experience with the above mentioned group started with several telemarketing calls pressuring me to let them see if they can improve the profits in my small company (5 employees). After awhile I gave in on their sales pitch of "We Will Increase Your Profits by at Least Three Times or we Don't Charge You Anything".
Sounded too good to be true. However, they set up a preliminary meeting the following day stating an associate would be in my area to review my company. It was suppose to be for a few hours!
The following day their associate arrived. He spent Three days here analyzing my business and charged me $400.00 for his recommendations.
His recommendations were that we get started immediately on this project as the end of the year was approaching and they could save me at least $20,000.00 on my taxes with their special one of a kind tax plan that they developed because all other accountants and lawyers don't know all the current tax codes.
He stated my business needed some help in accounting. About 80 hours of work was specified for the project to be completed. Wow, I thought, these people must be miracle workers, with a complete turnkey business setup in a bag.
He set up an appointment for the following day for a team, consisting of the project manager, himself and a tax analyst, to gather information for my five-year tax plan. He said the tax plan would cost about $10,000.00 depending on the way it was designed. I would have to pay them $820.00 to start processing this service. OK this sounds interesting. However, maybe I am being blind to my business as I am new to managing a company that makes profit. He left for the evening.
Shortly after his departure, I decided to change it to two days later, as my bookkeeper would be better to help with any information they may require.
I called the phone numbers he said to call if I needed to contact with him. In Illinois. I did so, a person answered, and I left an urgent message to contact me, he told me to do this and they would contact him on his cell phone. He never replied.
The next day him and his associates arrived as he said.
After a brief introduction to each other and me explaining that I wanted to proceed with my bookkeeper here they replied that that was not necessary that I would be able to help them as they decided to not start my tax plan and get right into the 80 hour project. I asked when would we start the tax plan, to me this sounded very well. They replied that they would get to it. OOK after about three hours of the project manager going over everything that they propose to do, already gone over with the salesman previously, I stated that we already been through all of this, his reply was this is what we have to do.
11:30 arrived and the sales man left me in the box with his Bugs. After a brief lunch break the project was to begin. They as ked for my current accounts receivables and accounts payables. I did not know why, but I gave it to them. After a while they asked some questions about some past due receivables and I replied they were slow pay. They said we would take care of that, wow, I said.
A little while later they started to pack up and explain what they are going to do next. OK. First, we need a Post Dated Check Dated for Next Week IN the Sum Of $20,000.00. WOOW, I said, for what. Well, we will complete the project next week. I said you were suppose to make this money through profit you are suppose to show me is in my business. The Bug Said our projected income for next week shows that you will have the funds needed to pay us.
I told him that his project was to make profits over what I already have not figure how to get my money that I am waiting for, and I cannot give you a post dated check on fund I do not have.
He stated that I must pay him at least for the 16 hours he worked here today then, about $5,400.00. I said, What? You showed up here at 9am. Told me things already stated to me previously, as I told you before. Had two other people sitting there doing nothing until 12:30, then at 5:00 tell me you worked 16 hours on the 80 hour project and have no results to report to me, except for the bill, and where I was getting the funds to pay it. It was time for them to leave; they showed me nothing, charged me $400.00 for nothing and now are trying to sue me for about $7000.00. and I have to go to court in IL. From NJ
