Help! I think I got ripped off by Merchants Credit Guide co and I don't know what I can do about it. Anyone with information about this, please respond below. Has there been a class action suit filed against this company? Are the reports that this company is fraudulent only accuzations or facts? How can I find out if I have been ripped off?

I recieved a letter from MCG about 3 years ago stating that I owed another credit burreu (NCO financial) money and that I was going to be sued if I didn't begin payments. I ignored the first few letter and made no payments because I didn't remember having a debt to this NCO financial company. They sent me many letter which always questioned my integrity and why I would create debts that I never intended to pay. I could never locate a phone number on the letters, so I began making s small payments of 10-20 dollars a month.

When I joined a debt consolidation group, I placed MCG on my debtors list and they have made payments to MCG evey month for over 2 years now. About a year ago, I was finally able to track down a phone # for MCG. I called and requested that they send me a statement so I would know how much I owed them still. I was told that they couldn't send me a statement because they forwarded all my payments to NCO finalncial and they weren't even able to tell me my account # or a telephone number for NCO finalcial.

I just read the rip off reports and I pieced it all together. If there is anyone that has good advice for me, please respond. What's my next step?

Thank You

Hi, I was ripped of by Merchants Credit guide also for over 1000 dollars. I am in the process of doing the following: 1. Filing a complaint with my state's Attorney General. 2. Filing a complaint with Chicago's AG (which I was told by the woman on the phone there that they already have around 150 complaints about MCG. 3. Filing a complaint with the Postal Inspectors of MA and of Chicago. 4. I have also been to my local police station and I have already been to my county's court house. The clerk Magistrate called MCG and told my "representative" that he has one week to get me my paid in full letter and if it didn't come then I could file a complaint. 5. I also checked with the state of Chicago to see if MCG was a liscenced creditor in Illinois. They found no MCG with the W. Jackson Blv. address. Only one in another part of Illinois. I called that MCG and they said they are not related to that the MCG in Chicago, but they get calls about it all the time. 6. I have also contacted my local news station and they are investigating this situation to see if MCG is a lagitiment company. I hope we start getting some answers about who they are and if they are licensed to do this!
