Today, I was getting quotes for construction of a vacation home on a piece of land purchased from these folks in 2010. I decided to call the town clerk to see if any taxes were due on the property purchased. I was concerned because I had received the land deed, but never any tax bill. The reason I had never received a tax bill was because I didn't own the property!! It turns out that there were already tax liens from 2008 on the property which these folks (NRLL) never reported to me at the time of the auction and sale. It was heart-wrenching to find out when the property was being auctioned by NRLL, the county had ceased the property and preparing their own auction. The long and short, I have the land deed which is apparently useless. From what I can gather, someone else also has a land deed for the same property given to them by the county.
