Precision Garage Door Services tried to scam me last month. I called them out to REPAIR my garage door on a saturday after reading there large ad in the yellow pages that said no extra charge for weekends or nights. They came out and immediately said that the equipment I was using was sub par and not efficient enough to do the job of lifting my garage door.

They informed me that I need two torsion springs and also there industrial strength rollers and drums. The total bill came to 737.89 .,, I wrote the check like an idiot but called for estimates the next Monday and was horrified to find out that Precisions estimate was twice as much as the next highest quote that I received. I stopped payment on the check and called the owners of Precision and before I told them that I had stopped payment he was telling me that he wasnt about to refund my money.

I told him to come take back all his parts that I had stopped payment on the check and if he wants his money to take me to court. I did cut another check to them for $400.00. Which they have not cashed yet. I don't think there case will stand in Small Claims Court, due to the Consumer Protection Act about purchasing done at your house. I was not scammed but other people are going to be in the Memphis area.

Sorry ..You might want to reconsider and have a reputable company check the door and parts out.

First let us say that we are sorry PDS has struck you too. We really wish you didn't agree to pay them $400. They still took you for a ride. I'll explain; the charge you recieved was PDS (Precision Door Service), famous "Overhaul" charge. Which means they charged you for numerous items you didn't need and probably wouldn't need for years to come. What were you charged for? If the drums, they tampered with them. If you see the original drum, you'll see that the small squarish piece on the side has been broke off. Well, this won't hurt the drum itself, but they break it to make it look broke to a homeowner. If your springs weren't streched or broke, they didn't need replaced. And if they installed roller on your door, they installed THEIR rollers which, no matter what they tell you, will not last the amount of time other rollers do. Instead of lasting, say, 6 years, you'll be lucky if they last half that. Also, did you get their lifetime or 10 year warranty. It's bull. When you call them to fix something on the warranty, they will charge you for that piece and, again, tell you this and that needs replaced. They will claim that you either didn't take the proper care of the piece(s) or damaged it yourself. If you read the small writting on the warranty, they expect you to call them out every 6 months for for service, no one does that because it is not needed, therefor making the waranty void. You might want to reconsider and have a reputable company check the door and parts out. Good luck!
