Quicken Loans Fired today, out of nowhere! Just told it was a meeting. Livonia Michigan
So I will start by saying that I had been with this company for almost a year and a half. In this time frame, I have worked very hard, put in so many hours, stuck it out, and got screwed in the end.
I thought this was the best place to work! I was so excited when I got in. Wow, did I have something else coming to me.
I started out in a region that is no longer there. The old RVP got promoted to a high position. I started on a team with a woman DMB. She was a tough one!!! One of her bankers spun off into her own team. I went on that team. This woman was just as bad, if not worse. She was horrible, would talk about me behind my back, I heard it several times. Threaten me once behind closed doors, and denied it when I confronted her with the RVP about it.
After crying and talking to a few people from HR, I was approved to go to another region. This is now about 11 months into my career with the company.
Everything was great at first. Then I started having a few slow months. I was put on a letter in the 3rd week of August. I only had 2 books for the month, and was told I would need to finish with 10. Guess what? I worked so hard, and I did hit ten. Then in September I finished number one on my team! I had 11 books! This month, as off today when I was let go, I had 6 books and one out. I was on pace for ten. I had more then most the team!
Yet I was told I had a one on one today. I was told I was not producing high enough, and that I was going to be let go! This came as such a shock. I was very upset at first, but now I am just thinking about going back to a normal 9 to 6 job! I wont know what to do with my days!
We were told we must from 930 until 730. We dont leave for lunches. We come in weekends too. Go home and log in! it would never end!!!
I will miss some things there, like a few good friends I made along the way. I wont miss any of the shady stuff that goes on, such as
1. DMB who are close to 40 dating their bankers who are 22!
2. Having pens or markers thrown at me during a call because I wasnt closing the way they wanted me too.
3. A DMB from my old region telling his banker (a good friend of mine) that he could show me what a real f**k is like.
4. Keg parties thrown by your boss with everyone getting very drunk.
5. Married men there hitting on me and sending me pictures of themselves on my cell phone!
6. RVPs be let go for having sex with their bankers.
7. Having to ask if it is okay to leave and take a lunch hour to run to the doctors office!
I dont know what else to say expect that it feels good after a year and a half to get this off my chest. To people who are still there, start looking some where else. I have been told by friends in higher up positions that by the start on next year, they want to be down to under 1000 bankers. There are still a lot more people who will be letting go.

Well first of all I want to say that what happened to you has happened to hundreds maybe even over a 1000 bankers at Quicken since late July 2007. This is the way they fire you, i have been looking at many different reasons as to why quicken fires folks and i think i have found a consistent pattern. This may help you understand the reasons for your termination. First of all the concentrated a lot of effort to make people under 6 moths of tenure to just up and quit, they also were very focused on actually firing people that were at Quicken 6 months to 1 year employment. This is the group of employees that was basically desimated. They started the mass firing of this group of folks sometime around the beginning of August. So i figured the have "cleaned house" in that group and have moved on to the 1 to 1.5 year folks now. Hence, your got axed. Dont worry it did not matter what you did if you were on the list to go you would be gone. I was in the top 25% of my entire building when i was fired. Not top 25% of my division, of the entire building. So your performance had nothing to do with it. It was more your tenure and how your Director felt about you. Your Director was giving an order that he or she needed to pick the people that they could live without on their team. So it was not you as a banker, it was your tenure and the fact your director for whatever reason liked you less than others on the team. I am glad for you and your family that you are out of there but believe me there are much better opprotunities for you out there. Good luck and dont let that sorry excuse of a company run by CROOKS get you down. I beleive in Karma and Dan Gilbert and Quicken Loans will feel the wrath of the bad Karma they have spread to 100's maybe thousands of people over the past few years. Go to NKA.com and join the new overtime lawsuit against Quicken. At least you will have a chance to recoup some of the money you should have been paid as a mortgage banker. Regards
