Ramada Plaza Resort & Vacation Village Resorts Ripoff! Deceptive Advertizing & lied on phone call. Ft.Lauderdale, FL
We explicitly asked Ramada Plaza if their package was connected to Tour of a Timeshare. They confirmed that it was not. We told them we wanted nothing to do with TimeShares. We found out different when we tried to check in our room. We had to deposit $50. as promise to go on tour, which they would refund after tour.
We received a card from Ramada Plaza Resort inviting us to call the ph: number listed. We waited a week or so & dialed the number. Our first question was: Is this connected with TimeShares? They assured us it wasn't. I said if it was we wanted nothing to do with it. They again said it was not.
They billed our Visa for the first $698.00 & said we must pay the 2nd $698.00 at time of reservations. I asked if we could wait until Jan. to make our reservations & they approved.
When we called in Jan. they required the 2nd installment.
We have never accepted a Vacation package, but our Daughter & family had just moved South of Miami & we wanted to visit them so thought this would work out well.
We reserved a week on our own at the Plaza from 2/15 to
2/21/05 to visit family. When we tried to check in at 8:00pm on the 15th, they said we had to go to the Welcome Center first.
We were tired & hungry, but walked to where they told us. It was then that we found out we had to promise to tour the Vacation Village at Weston before we could check in.
They requested a $50 deposit which they would refund after we had taken the tour. They scheduled the tour for 10:30 am in the morning, the 16th (our own vacation time.) Their package didn't start until 2/22. We were so tired & hungry we didn't argue, but felt stunned that we had fallen for the trap. We finally got to our room at 10:30pm.
The room is another story. They also lied about the 2 day cruise. It was a night over & toured Nassau on our own from 9:30 am to 5:30pm & back on the boat (couldn't call it a ship)to return to Ft.Lauderdale at 7:00am.
The worst part of the package is that we bought half a TimeShare, which we will probably never use. At our age, 77, we can't plan a year ahead as required. They didn't explain that & alot of other requirements in the fine print.
After 7 hours we were to tired to argue so gave in. Came back 9 days later & tried to cancel & was given a long list of why we got such a "good deal". Now the more we read the material the more we realize we were foolish to ever sign anything. We never thought we would become one of those senior citizens that got dupted.

I am confused with why you would have to book a whole year in advance. This Vacation Village at Westin has an awsome Trading Power. I usually get to where I want to go within two weeks notice or less. And the really cool thing I love about owning here is that it isnt a timeshare at all. They do not sell timeshare. They sell VACATION OWNERSHIP. A completly different concept backed by their real estate licenses. If you will not use your week you should have no problem getting your purchase price as the prices in Westin are going crazy. No More land and Famous people are buying up all the homes. Trading Power is what makes the system go around though as far as I know. And THis resort has by far the best I have seen. I hope this helps. Oh I just got back from spending two weeks in Capri Italy. And the Cool thing is That I stayed at a 5 star resort and it only cost me $189 per week, and I brought 6 friends. REDICULOUS PROGRAM I LOVE IT. HOPE YOU USE IT IT WILL SAVE YOU ALLOT OF MONEY. LAter
