I decided to rent a livingroom set from RAC start of October. From the start I had problems or issues with them. They called me first thing in the morning the day my payment was due demanding payment. They were rude when I told them I'd be in later to pay it, that I had gotten home late from working and was trying to sleep. They didn't seem to care. So finally, payment was made via visa debit card by phone because they weren't happy with me coming in and paying with cash later that day. I wasn't even late, I didn't even get a chance to be late and they were already harassing me. The payment was made and the next day my bank balance was almost 150 dollars less than what it should have been. I went to the bank freaking out because I had other bills coming in as well. They told me that RAC does a pre-authorization, which holds double the money needed for 5 to 7 business days! I was about to have a heart attack. The manager at the bank was great, she removed the authorization fee so that my account wouldn't have problems. I had decided to never use the card with RAC again. They never warned me that they do this, not once.

Then I go in about a month later to make my payment before it's even due (to avoid the rude, early morning wake up call) and I made the payment with cash. I told them that I didn't appreciate being called and demanded to pay a payment that wasn't even late. He said he couldn't change it. Oh well was his basica attitude. But finally he put a note in my account to stop those calls.

About a week after making this payment with cash, I was checking my bank account and I came across a charge for $51.11 from no other but Rent A Center! I was upset. I couldn't believe there was a charge on my account. I was paid for four weeks. Why would they charge me?! So, I called them up and questioned them about it. It turns out it was a mistake from an employee charging my bank card with someone else's rental! Then it was a big hassle and issue to get them to refund my money. Finally, after being treated very rudely and after I was made to feel like an idiot, he did the refund. However, it hasn't shown any signs of it on my bank at all (I called them) yet. This was about three hours ago. I am not sure what more hassles I will have getting that refund back on my card. I had asked for the district managers number and was given a line of BS and not the actual number.

So, I contacted another store in a different town and got the district number and managers name. When I called him up I was appauld at how rude he was to me. He didn't really work with me and it was more of the feeling that it was my fault, that he didn't see any reason to be complaining. I still have to follow up on that phone call.

I will be contacting the corperate office in regards to how I've been treated by RAC employees, including the district manger. I will be making a complaint and I will be changing companies. I should have never trusted this company, never.

They are rude and dishonest, feeding you a line of bull whenever something happens. I don't recommend anyone ever use them, ever.

Someone at the store may have copied down the number and will soon use it for other stuff. Also tell your bank that the charge of $51.11 was not authorized by you and you need the money back immediately. Consider how much the furniture is worth versus how much you have remaining to pay on it. If it is not worth it, return the furniture now. Don't let Rent-a-Center continue not only to abuse you but also to fundamentally rip you off with overpriced furniture.
