I'm really surprised by most of the reports against RAC. I mostly read them for a good laugh. The store and market I work for are incredible. Granted the hours do suck, but the pay ain't bad. I used to work at one location and let me tell you, the crap we got away with. I've cut cable lines, killed power to houses, and add a few B&Es to the list. It was how I was trained to do things at that store. I was never allowed to finish my Focus I training. If I had been allowed to finish it, I would have known better. I was just thrown to the wolves and learned from my fellow workers. The store manager and market manager were a joke (both are no longer with the company.) I was eventually fired because I started to report what they were doing. Then one day I happened to stumble into a Rent-Way. Yes, they were bought out by RAC. I was hired on to that store a short time later. I was trained there the proper way after explaining what I knew from the other store. My Market Manager, Store Manager, and Assistant Manager were all previous RAC employees. I finally found paradise. They had learned from RACs mistakes and were using their knowledge for the good of Rent-Way. After the buy-out we all decided that we were going to keep our tactics that we had from Rent-Way and let me tell you I'm glad we did. We are now currently operating the best market out of the division and I work in the store that is the best out of 36 stores. We are now a training store. We are currently training others to do things the correct way and the proper way. Granted there are some bad RAC stores out there, but there are some good ones too. When you get mad at a store or an individual at a store, stop blaming the company. Blame the store or individual. What's that slogan for Pit Bull dogs, "Blame the deed, not the breed." Not all pits are bad. But the people that train them might be. The problem I had at my first store was the people in the store, not the company. The company eventually caught up with them and now they are gone, in fact, that store has even been shut down. As for what happened to you Lawrence, I do appologize that you were treated that way by your co-workers and management team. You have a voice. You used it here. But you never stated if you used it there. I voice my opinion and thoughts regularly, ask my manager. I even get told that I'm doing a great job everyday by my manager and fellow co-workers and I return in kind. My Market Manager even calls me or the store to give praise. You were just at a bad store. It's been two years since your posting and I do hope that things are going better for you and I do hope that changes have been made at that store. (Sorry, I do tend to get long-winded.)

Is the petition for former R.A.C. employees only, or can anybody sign it? Can you post it on a personal website? Keep me posted.

I understand what you mean, I was with them for over 3 years and then when they were done with me I was also fired, yes the hours were long and yes they did not care how many hours you worked every week as long as they got what they wanted, so glad to see that there are others out here that have been treated like this. I would give you an address to go to for a petition I signed but this web site will not allow it and only delete my post, but if you email me i WILL BE GLAD TO SEND YOU THE WEB ADDRESS of where the petition is at and then you can pass it along to others just email me at sgreeninmo at aol and i will send the link to you asap
