Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

Brought my motor to Richard Clarks Garage at 2557 Faucette Lane Burlington NC 27217 phone # 336 270 3866 on 1-22-21-2018 for a rebuild due to "Metalic" tapping in upper motor. Told about 3 weeks turn around. Took 16 weeks to get it back totally rebuilt like brand new. Paid $4,100 and my mechanic reinstalled motor and it had a lower end "Knock". Sent video to Richard Clark. Told my mechanic to remove motor after I was insured Richard Clark would fix motor and make it right. I was told he would pay for any charges encured for removal and installation of motor by my mechanic.

I now haul motor back to North Carolina 5 1/2 hrs one way and Richard Clark says "there's no way he created this "Knock" maybe we did something. B.S., we only installed his brand new rebuild and started it for 15 seconds and shut it off because of the loud knock ! Now after promissing it would be fixed I don't get any answers to texts or voice mails. After 6 weeks I finally get Richard on the phone and he says he has to fit it in his schedual. 7-18-2018 I am told to pick up motor it has been fixed. When I arrive to pick up motor I asked what was wrong with the motor and Richard Clark tells me "NOTHING". He now runs the motor out of the car on an engine stand at a very high RPM. It is so noisy that you can't hear anything but the roar of the exhaust. (lucky I videod it because the video picked up the knock) the video wasn't reviewed until a later date. At that point I put my trust in Richard Clark as he told me motor was O.K. with no knock.

Now Richard has the nerve to demand $1,200 telling me there was nothing wrong with the motor and he's no going to pay my mechanics bill for removal and installation. I refuse to pay, pack up my motor and leave. Now I get barraged by phone calls and texts. After my mechanic reinstalls motor with videos of every step the motor still knocks, same noise, same spot ! Nothing wrong.....we call B.S. ! ! ! My mechanic has maintained this car and has removed and installed this motor without a glitch at other times. I have never run across such a dishonest shop in the 31 years I have owned this car. I have had 4 mechanics listen to this knock and they have determined it is a lower motor rod knock at the middle cylinder passenger side. This motor NEVER had a rod knock and this was caused by Richard Clark.

Now I've gotten nowhere after 8 months of unanswered questions, finger pointing, insults to my mechanic and insulting defamitory texts from Richard Clark and his employees to me personally. I now have a vehicle that is totaly undrivable, caused by a business owner who is dishonest, arogant, rude and has no regard what so ever for a customer. He still thinks we caused the knock and he is owed money when we received a totally sealed brand new rebuilt motor and all we did was install what he supposedly supplied us with.......a BRAND NEW MOTOR.

What I want at this point is my $4,100 refunded, $2,000 my mechanic was paid for the removal and instillation charges, $450 for gas for six 5 1/2 hour trips I made back and forth to RICHARD CLARKS GARAGE at 2557 Faucette Ln. Burlington N.C. 27217. The grand total of my claim is $6,550.

This is an example of what a RipOff Artist this fraud is. He's not man enough to face the music.

4/24/2019 He installed a bad set of lifters and from other things I discovered they were probably my old ones as they did not appear on my bill. I found that problem myself, I am a Rookie ! My mechanic installed a new set of lifters and that noise was gone.

Next scenario was a horrible noise that showed its head when I was just driving local, WHAM ! Shut this thing down and called a flat bed to tow it to my house. (This motor took over a year of B.S. and back and forth with this clown and has under 150 miles on it). In discussed this car sat on my lift for 3 months, I covered it and didn't even want to look at it.

I am not a mechanic but after listening to the noise coming from behind my timing cover I decided to take a look and this is what I found:

1- The cam button spring broke sending the button and spring into my gears and chain.

2- That broke my tensioner bolt off and the tensioner and tensioner spring took a ride on my gears and my "DOUBLE ROLLER CHAIN". ** ** Doesn't the whole Turbo World know that you don't use a tensioner on a Double Roller Chain ! ! !

3- The chain was my old sloppy chain that this clown thought no one would ever discover, so he put a tensioner to quiet it down. ** ** He was told to replace "ANY" worn out parts on the rebuild.

4- I had to replace.....Timing Chain and Gears, Cam Button and Spring, "NEW" Front Cover, (mine was galled and cracked), "NEW" Oil Pump, Cam Sensor Gear, and the Crank Sensor bracket was cracked because someone tightened it to much.

Fortunately all these loose parts would up between the front main cap and the cover. I shut this thing down so fast that the oil was in good shape. Used parts and shoddy workmanship seems to be his M.O.! And a Tensioner on a Double Roller Chain......SHAME ON YOU ! ! !

Maybe you thought you were pulling the wool over my eyes but I have photos, videos and all the bills for everything I had to buy to fix what "HE" SCREWED UP ! So......The Turbo Jesus couldn't find what he SCREWED up (or he didn't give a d**n about customer satisfaction) only wanted more money. Well the ROOKIE FIXED ALL (at my additional expense) and now it finally runs perfect.

My first time wrenching on this G.N. and I'm the original owner. Now who owes who money "TURBO JESUS" ! ! ! I would warn anyone thinking of using Richard Clarks Garage to run as far and fast as you can. BEWARE...SEE PHOTOS......

First time I brought the motor to your shop you made it worse than it was and charged me for it. I paid you. I put my trust in you and you failed me.

First time I brought the motor to your shop you made it worse than it was and charged me for it. I paid you. I put my trust in you and you failed me. Went to all the trouble of removing motor from the car and bringing it 5 1/2 hrs for you to investigate the noise you created. Instead of immediately satisfying a paying customer and repairing the defective motor you chose to put my motor problem at the end of the line and get to it when you felt like it treating me like I was a pain in the azz. (so much for customer satisfaction). After not being able to reach you via texts and voicemail for about a month, I finally get Richard on the phone. Now he acts like I've got some nerve bothering him about my motor.

A few days later I get a text that motor is ready for pick up. (RUSH JOB) Go to pick up motor 5 1/2 hrs, he runs it outside car at high rpm, very noisy in his shop and I can't hear nothing but exhaust noise. Richard then sits me down and try's to charge me $1,200 and says he found nothing. He explicitly told me he removed the center bearings (ONLY) and found nothing. He now clains he went internally into motor and inspected everything with a camera. (I call B.S.) He also admits that he never ran the motor to detect a knock which is what any ROOKIE would have done to find a knock. Any mechanic would have continued to dismantle entire BRAND NEW motor, that he assembled, until they found the problem. (not Richard). He did a quickie look at the easiest thing to look at, stopped and said he found nothing. Good thing my video picked up knock. (was reviewed after I got home) 5 1/2 hrs home, motor re-installed, SAME KNOCK, SAME EXACT SPOT, absolutely nothing repaired on defective motor.

Richard continues to try and blame me and my mechanic with new stories he's come up with. He says maybe knock is not in motor, maybe it's one of the accessories bolted to motor. No Richard, maybe it's a mysterious knocking in 4 mechanics heads who looked at your BRAND NEW MOTOR. Do you think for one moment I would trust you with my car or motor. After I've put up with you arrogant attitude, rude demeanor, broken promises, attempted overcharges and inadequate repair capabilities and the monies I have spent running around to your shop that your offer is invalid in my mind. (8) months for nothing. After two (2) try's to fix what you created (KNOCK) I have zero confidence in your HONESTY, TRUSTWORTHINESS or CAPABILITIES to ever take anything you say as truth. The only solution for customer satisfaction in this case is a total refund of all monies ($6,550) that I was caused to spend, by you, for absolutely NOTHING. Send the money like a man (you stated the money needs nothing to you) and you will be done with this problem (YOU) created. If not, your in for a rough ride, BUCKEL UP ! ! !
