In January, I purchased a new condo that's 40 years old. It was updated 10 Years ago, and that being said, appliance within 10 years old.Home Select Warranty (HSW) quoted me a price of $595.00 for six years, and in addition, I would have to pay $45.00 every time I had a service visit.  They emailed the contract and I paid with my credit card.  Not realizing until months later, they billed my cc for $1500.00.  When my air conditioner broke last week I located my contract and called HSW to repair my air conditioner.  Initially I was told they would have someone come within 24 hours as per contract, but in actuality, it became 36 hours.  After 36 hours in the Floridian Humidity and high temperatures in July, they told me I can call an independent contractor because they couldn't get one of their own service men to come.  The independent contractor came in one hour and charged $750.00 to replace the motor.  I called HSW to inform them what the independent contractor's fee is, and HSW told the independent contractore HSW would reimburse me.  I faxed HSW the bill and then I was emailed back, they said they would only give me $150.00 back out of the $750.00, because I didn't have 2 years of paperwork on the machine.  This tidbit of info about paperwork was never discussed with me.I came home to NJ, read the contract, and that's when I discovered the $1500 charge.
