Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I just got off the phone with AOL.

I received an email today from Simple Escapes saying my credit card is being charged. AOL authorized them to use our credit info on file. AOL promises their members that our credit info is safe with them yet allows this scamming company to take our money without our authorization. This was verified by the AOL person I talked to. They do allow it.

AOL said that you must respond to the email to refuse or cancel the membership as it is automatically charged. I did not authorize this. If you click off a pop-up in the wrong place, or accidentally click on spot on a web page you automatically are signing on for a membership or product. What if your kids, grandkids, babysitter, etc. are playing an AOL game and accidentally click in the wrong spot, or click off a popup? How many of us is this happening to without our knowledge?

They sent this email, but you automatically think it is junk mail & delete it, or you are out of town and do not read your emails, etc., so you do not know about this scam between AOL & Simple Escapes or other products & memberships. SO AOL authorizes this scam and your credit card is used.

Once you get this email, you still cannot cancel, as no one answers the phone, they are all prompts.

My biggest complaint is that AOL is allowing the use of your credit information without written authorization. I told AOL that this is a scam and theft, and AOL is sponsoring it. You should not have to read all your junk mail to find out if you have been scammed so you have to cancel.

If people want to sign up for anything, then they should have to fill out a form, and click an authorization form. Then, they are to be notified by email and MUST RESPOND by email to authorize this.

AOL told me that I should have looked at my emails and then call and cancel. I told them that they have NO RIGHT, NO AUTHORIZATION to use my credit card with out a written form.

How many kids are clicking on the cute bunny only to find AOL had authorized money to be taken out of your credut card that you felt was secure with AOL.
