We bought a skymax wind turbine after seeing their website. The orignal product we had intended to buy was a a grey 1500 watt wind turbine they have called the Pegasus. They still run this turbine in video and ads but do not have stock. This company sold us a " Freedom II Wind Turbine" and the sales guy explained that this turbine would provide similar output to the one we had originall called about so we decided to give it a try. This product was purchased and sat for a couple months prior to install due to the weather When we put this wind generator up we did not notice any power production even when the weather station showed 15 - 20 mile per hour winds.
After making a few calls we were directed to check the incoming voltage from the wind turbine on the rectiifier and the voltage did not exceed the battery voltage of our 24 volt bank. After further research it was determined that this turbine did not make the minimum voltage needed to produce any power We made a call to the company Missouri Wind and Solar which was the only number we could find on their dealers page after digging. Those people told us to contact skymax thorough e bay. They were no help and after we needed to make a couple calls to determine what was happening the sales people were rude.
Later we had higher winds of 40-50 mph and finally noticepeaks of 300 watts coming in for a few moment sporadically but the turbine made this high pitch humming noise which became higher pitched as the wind increased. The turbine within 2 hours started vibrating the house and stopped with 2 of the blade damaged 1 sheared off which created minor damage to our roof
They adverise products they do not have to draw you in then sell you a pile of crap. They have noone to talk with you about and their people will not talk on the phone preffering to send messages to e bay basically to tell you to go screw yourself. Appearanty it was my fault this turbine failed to produce any power because in the fine print is says that it has to 65 feet in the air.
If the turbine has to be 65 feet in the air to produce any power I am confused why we were told this could be mounted on our roof.
