Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
In March of 2008 my wife and I signed up of Sprint's unlimited data plan for our internet needs. For $59.99 a month we were given unlimited downloads and uploads at a time when most companies were charging the same for only 5gbs of data. Along with our plan we purchased a Sierra Wireless AirCard 595U to connect to the internet with. In April of 2009 our AirCard died, it simply stopped working. Now we could have sent to Sierra for repair but as it was past warranty date of 1 year we would have to had paid $110 for the repair. After doing some checking we figured it would be easier and faster to simply buy a new AirCard for around $200. So off I went to the local Sprint store to get one. The clerk was very helpful and soon I was out the door with our new card for less than expected only $150, came home plugged it in and in about 10mins was back online. Happy day!

Then on Wednesday of last week (5/6/08) we received a letter saying that our account had been updated and thanking us for using Sprint. Without our consent someone had changed our plan to the 5GB per month for $59.99 when all we had done was buy a replacement card. I called Sprint right away and was told no that was a mistake we still had the unlimited plan, only to have them call my wife's phone moments after I got off the phone with them to say that no our plan had been changed to the 5GB plan. So I called back and then the games started. I spoke to no less than 4 different people after waiting on hold for what seemed forever(it always does), to finally have my case "escalated" and was connected to someone named "Clara" who had left the office for the day so I left a message and asked to be called back.

When she did on Friday I was in an all day conference was was not able to call her back right away. I did call her as soon as I was able and again got voice mail as she had left for the weekend. I stated I will call her on Monday, which I did several hours ago and left ANOTHER message and am still waiting to hear from her.

When we signed up I read everything very carefully and it wasn't a limited time offer that stated the rate would change after 12 months or that if a new device was required.

If I had to replace my phone would they have changed my rate when I bought a new one?

Since they violated the terms of our contract does that mean we are able to cancel our service without penalty? Cricket wireless has a great offer of unlimited service for only $40 a month.

To Larry the employee, No if I buy a phone to replace one that was damaged then no changes are necessary to my plan. I have had to do this in the past and never had my plan changed by any carrier ever. I am still try to solve this as I was never informed that by simply buying a new card I was agreeing to a new plan. And I'm probably not gonna go with Cricket but living in the middle of a corn field my options are rather limited.

If you purchased a new aircard, the system that Sprint uses will not allow activation of said Aircard on an unlimited data plan. All of Sprint's mobile broadband plans are capped at 5GB now. If you had bought a new phone that required an add on, then yes, the same thing would have happened. What's happening is not shady per se, however, someone (either CC or the store rep) should have told you about the 5GB cap. If you need any more information, please ask.

Maybe this is what happened

You said you got the card for less than expected. Was this due to a rebate or a discount they offered you at the sprint store? If so, by accepting the discount you may have let them sign you up for a new contract. I would check in to that.

Are you serious about Cricket? I mean have you not looked up Cricket on here? They have all sorts of complaints. I've talked to people here in the Chicagoland area about Cricket and have yet to hear anything good about them. If you go w/Cricket, good luck to ya! Yeah, Sprint has always been good for just changing things randomly. I know people that use to work for Sprint in store & in Customer Service. Not surprised to hear that.
