I have a serious complaint of being overcharged at a Taco Bell in Birmingham, AL. Customers used to be able to see the sign that showed the amount due at the window as you pull up. At this particular location, the signs have been removed, they do not tell you the amount of your order through the speaker, and they do not give you a receipt showing how much your order truly cost. All you get is the amount the cashier tells you.

Well, my family and friends decided to individually see if the cashiers were overcharging us, and giving us no receipt to validate the costs. It was true.

On four different occasions, each time the amount for our order would be at least $0.75-$2.00 over the actual amount, depending on how many items ordered. The more we ordered, the more we were overcharged. We took caculators to add the order before we got to the window, and each time the cashiers price was higher than what we calculated.

It just happened to my husband and I today. The cashier told us our order for 4 chalupas was $7.93(9% tax). We asked her twice, by the way no name tag, and she again stated the same price.

We then asked for a receipt. She stopped, bent down, started stalling. Recounted the money and gave us the receipt showing $6.93, and our proper change.

I called and reported this matter to the customer service representative at 1-800- TACO-BELL. She apologized and said it is their policy to tell you the amount owed through the speaker, and give a receipt.

I am not saying that it is everyone at this particular location, and it mostly seems to happen during the daytime hours. The rep. asked if I would like management to call me if I wanted to discuss it further. And I do.

So, be careful and do your math if you are at the Taco Bell at 2300 Bessemer Rd. Birmingham, AL 35208. Some of the employees are truly ripping consumers off. The food is great, but having to overpay for it is totally unfair.

Great update for this location. I was contacted by the owner/district manager within the 72 hours that were promised. He thoroughly apologized for what was happening. He assured me that the things going on were not Taco Bell's policy. The issue would be further investigated, and will probably lead to termination due to theft. He was also nice enough to give me a free combo for reporting the issue to him. In, all I appreciated the response and will visit this location in the future.
