I'm glad you got your issue resolved, Tracy, but I'll warn you, don't buy a new phone in a year or so and expect Tracfone to transfer your minutes to the new one properly. I posted a Ripoff Report about how Tracfone totally screwed me out of over 500 minutes (which cost minimum $200) by simply hanging up when it was time to do the transfer. After all the hassle I'd been through with Tracfone since 2000 when I first got it, I've given it up for good. It's not worth the money or the trouble.

After talking to the representatives to no avail, I finally found a website for the Executive Resolutions Group. It is http://www.tracfone.com/jsplib/verify_authentication.jsp?pin=0778&continue.x=82&continue.y=17. If you can't get there with that link (be sure to use Internet Explorer), try calling (305) 715-6673. This is a group that handles problems that the others cannot. I had to spend some time on the phone with them on a few occasions but they managed to "order" some local numbers for my area. I would say that, all together, I probably spent five hours total with all of the representatives. The dolts that you deal with who only handle "everyday" problems do not know anything about this Executive Resolutions Group, so don't bother to ask. I am still not happy with what I had to go through to get my local number, but I have finally gotten the product that I desired: a cheap phone with a local number. I also have to give TracFone credit for helping me with this problem.

I have tried for a year to fix this problem. they changed my number once. It will go out of roam if I force it into analog but it only will stay there for about 3 munutes then switches back to digital. I have lost 20 hours of my time tring to fix this by waiting and waiting to talk to some one about this problem many many times. I had purchased a year's service and used up hundreds of minutes on the cell phone because it was in roam because of this problem. The only good thing I can say is that it works fine while out travelling when it using up double minutes.

I have the same problem that John has. My TracFone is long distance from my home. I have spoken to two different TracFone representatives over the last two nights (and e-mailed twice) to no avail. They tell me that I have been given the best number for my area. My Verizon cell phone is not long distance and there are a multitude of prefixes available for my area, but they insist that the prefix number they have assigned me is the best one. They also say that it is the only one available. They have allowed me to give them my prefixes and have stated that they will try to find a local number for me, but I have little confidence that they actually will. How can they find me a number when they tell me each time that the computer assigns me a number that they cannot control? I bought a TracFone because they are cheap and I needed a second cell phone without paying another 20 bucks a month (my wife has the other one). But how do I save money when we pay a long distance charge every time she calls me?

Dear John I live in Apache Junction and had the same problem with my tracfone. I called the representative and told them what area code I wanted for my phone, they change my number with minutes. I never had any problem after that. Hope this helps you
