I contacted Trafone to find out if I could transfer my current Tracfone number to a new Trafone. I was told that the new phone I wanted to buy could take my current phone number. I was told to call Tracfone customer service as soon as I got the new phone.

I ordered the new phone on line and received it in 3 days. I charged the phone and then called tracfone to transfer my current phone number. I was told by the customer service rep that the new phone was a different technology and couldn't have my current phone number transfered. I asked to speak with a supervisor who gave me the same story.

I don't believe they couldn't transfer the number but since they wouldn't transfer the number I said to just activate the phone as is. They activated the phone but gave me a phone number outside my area code because they didn't have any numbers available in my area code. They told me to call back in 48 hours and then they would give me a phone number in my area code.

I followed their instructions and called back in 48 hours. They gave me a phone number in my area code. I waited 24 hours but my phone never activated. I called back after 24 hours and the customer service rep did get the phone to activate.

Now I had a phone with a phone number in my area code but when I looked the number up in the "my telephone number" area of the phone it did not list the correct phone number. The customer service rep insisted that this was normal. I explained that the purpose of the "my telephone number" was to have your cell phone number available to you.

I asked to talk to a supervisor. After talking to 7 different superivsors, all who tried to convince me that no one has the correct phone number in the "my telephone number" area, I insisted that they get me a cell phone with the correct number in the "my telephone number" area. They said I would have to send back my phone and wait 10 working days to get it fixed.

After 30 more minutes on the phone and several more supervisors (I think they were just passing me back and forth to different customer service reps all with very heavy accents and phones that were turned down so low I had to keep asking them to speak up) they agreed to send me a new phone but would not put all of my units on it, they will only put some of my units on the new phone. They said they'll give me the remainder of my units after I return the phone with the wrong number.

I will update this when and if they make the corrections they say they will.

ALthough I never got my original phone number on the new phone, Tracfone did send me a new phone that could be programmed to a phone number in my area code.
