In August of 2010, I was hospitalized and the doctor's office could not or would not locate me so I could pay the bill, so they turned it over for collection. The initial bill was approximately $549.00. I am severly mobility challenged and use a wheel chair to get around. I am on Social Security, Medicare and other programs.
When I was notified of the debt by Wakefield and Associates that I owed a bill and offered to pay $25.00 a month to settle the debt of $549.00. At that time the Wakefield Associate agreed to accept my payments and up to date I have paid Wakefield over $600.00. When I contacted Wakefiled, I was rudely informed the monthy stipend was not acceptable and I should be paying $50.00 a month.
I have repeatedily requested in writing with my payments, an accounting of my account showing what I owed and details on what I owe and why. To this date 05/30/2014 they have refused to comply and do nothing but threaten to damage my credit status.
I am under the auspice of the Adults with Disabilities Act and have been afforded protection as a "Senior At Risk". This does not deliver any solace as to their unscrouplous behavior. I have no other forum to protest their behaviour.
