I became interested in Life Insurance after several friends persuaded me to look into it. On October 24, 2016 I spent the better half of the day researching companies and submitting quotes. This was a grueling task because each company asks about a hundred questions. I then received quotes from all of the companies via email.
Zander Insurance Group quoted $434 for $1M coverage for a term of 20 years. Other companies were higher and ultimately I chose to begin the process with Zander (my mistake, I thought Dave Ramsey's endorsement of Zander was credible).
Over the course of the next EIGHT weeks, I submitted medical records, blood work and waited for their approval. I was approved on December 22 and was told that final paperwork would be mailed to me to sign. This was very exciting for my family. About a week later I got the pacakage in the mail and immediately began filling out all of the paperwork. Once I was FINISHED signing all of the documents, I proceeded to look through the rest of the information. ON THE LAST PAGE, it was nearly HIDDEN that the new charge would be not $434 per year, but $4584 each year.
I immediately called Zander Insurance Group to question this increase of over 1,000%. They explained that the initial quote was just that, a quote, and the final price can be slightly higher than originally quoted. Keep in mind that I only received this quote after already answering about 100 questions over the phone regarding my health history. The representative was very rude on the phone and basically blew me off when I told her that I would not be signing up.
I then persued another company that originally quoted a higher price. In less than 2 weeks I was approved for the same coverage for $930 per year (over 4 times less than Zander).
So in conclusion, don't waste your time with ZANDER INSURANCE GROUP. Zander is a scam who wastes 8 weeks of your life going without life insurance. Once they know that you are on to their con, they drop interest in offering honest service. I let them know that I would be filing this statement on this website so I'm curious to see what excuse they make up. Keep in mind that their initial quote was AFTER i told them my entire health history.

We have delayed in responding to this post as we have made every attempt to satisfy this client and address his concerns about the pricing changes that he received related to his recent application for life insurance. We are severely limited in what we can share due to privacy laws and HIPAA guidelines which sometimes makes our response seem diluted.
In reality, we provide accurate pricing estimates based on the information that the client provides and expect those details to be an honest representation of the facts. During the underwriting process conducted by the Insurance Company a review is conducted including medical history as well as exam results and other criteria to determine which rate class an individual will ultimately qualify for.
There are elements, in this case, that were omitted by the applicant when first contacting us that we discovered by the Insurance Company. This caused the price to increase due to their determination of a higher risk exposure. The pricing increase offered by the company is fair and representative of this omitted information.
We attempted to assist this client further, and even advised him to take the other plan he noted in his comment if he had been forthright with his responses on their application. For some reason that option didn’t appear to be available any longer since he asked us to look further and with new info was able to find an alternate company willing to provide a lower rate. We forwarded an application for his completion and he has not returned it. We have made several attempts to try and assist and at this point have closed the file due to no response.
