I started working for this KIRBY company with the intentions i was gonna get paid.I took Chris to my families homes and literally begged them to by a kirby cause i thought i was gonna get some comission off this. little did i no this thief was gonna fire me and take my money.

The 2nd day i worked there i made 2 sells for him,the 3rd day he made me a team leader told me i would make 600 a week, HAHAHA what a joke. well he gave me a script and sent me to pick up this kid and go in the neighborghood knocking on doors, no training no nothing.

well of course we made no sells no one would let us in there homes of course i wouldnt either. well a week of this goes by and he sends us out again well come 12 noon we take a lunch for a hr and he calls me and tells me to take my kirby to this kids house i was fired. for what? eating i guess.........

I had the pleasure of meeting Chris. He is a very nice guy and wouldn't rip anyone off. Just like the other person said, it depends on how the loans got accepted. So, before you go blaming someone for someone else's bad credit, make sure you know what you are talking about.

Hi, my name is Erin, and I too was in Kirby sales a while back. I whole-heartedly agree with Nathan, in that it IS the American way to purchase what you want, and not purchase what you don't want. Secondly, as an independent contractor (Kirby marketing reps are not considered employees, per se), YOU decide how to make the program work for you. It is ENTIRELY possible to earn hundreds, even thousands of dollars every week. And like Nathan mentioned, it is up to the seller to set the price. I have had customers who believe in the Kirby, and understand its value. These are the people who don't bother haggling; they simply cut a check for the full amount. Good salesmanship is definitely important, but ultimately the product sells itslef. I left Kirby after only two months, having made nearly 4,000 dollars! For someone with no prior work experience, and only a high-school education, this was phenomenal. Now, I'm married, have one son, and a beautiful brand-new Kirby. Do not blame your personal failures on this honest, reputable company. Kirby has been in business for over 90 years! When YOU are ninety years old, then you will be able to contribute a worthy opinion entitled to the appellation.

The Kirby Company: Myths and Facts Unfolded

Ok just get it out in the open on who I am and why I would have a little more info on Kirby than the avarage Joe on here is this. First off I have been with the company for going on 3 Years. I have worked at 3 different offices and am in a Corporate Training position. I know that some of you just hearing that are wanting to turn off your computer now, but bear with me. I will try to be as neutral about this as possible. First off let me say this about the people who made "No money". Like any other sales jobs this is all based off commision. If you lower the Kirby, you lower your commision. I have worked in Chris's office before when he was in Pryor, Oklahoma and he let his people make "up to" 600 dollars. Do you make this money all the time, NO. Do you make close to that, No. Not in most cases at least. The reason is this and I hope that most people will agree with me. Kirby is a very different company. Not alot of people are cut out for it. So, if you are not naturally a Salesman. Then chances are your not going to be too great at getting people to buy it. And when you do, you have to drop the price because they arent as sold. If you dont understand this concept then I guess its something that you just have to experience. Let me make another good point. I dont know this girls case. I dont think that it is my busness because thats between her and chris. But the 1 thing i can think of is that if someone has sold 2-3 kirbys and hasnt been paid then its more than likely 1) it went for a low cost or 2) it was what we call a "b loan" meaning the people had bad credit and the finance company took half the profit in order to finance meaning if you sold it a $1000 the price would now be $500. Which at $500 dollars an agent wont get paid. For the people who are angry about the intrest, the price of the kirby, and the people who are angry with the sales people let me adreess you. First the interest. Its very simple, the finance company is their own company. They have no affiliation with kirby. They make their own intrest and theres nothing Kirby can do about it. Sorry, also its on the contract that you have to sign to get a kirby. Its not hidden or anything(If anyone wants proof ill fax you a copy). to the people who are angry with Kirby sales people. First off let me say that I am sorry about the experience that you have had. Not all sales people in our company are like that. Let me say this though. Being a trainer, I get to pick my class. I choose who I hire. So, just like any other company in the world. If you find a bad employee. Call us and tell us about it. We dont usually read these sites( I was actually trying to get a report on another site when I found this). So we dont know what happened. When I get a call from a customer who has had a bad experience with one of our agents. I usually end up with 1st corrective action and the the removal of that agent. Just like Sears or whoever, if someone is rude, you need to say something to someone about it. This company has already gotten some bad recognition because of some bad agents. I dont need anymore of them. SO, I really would appreciate it more than view it as a hastle. And to the price of the Kirby I will simply say this, If you dont like the price, Dont buy it. ITs the american way of doing things. Everyone knows that kirbys last 30 years or more. I own one that is 35 yrs old. So, I think that just in not spending any more money on replacing vacuumes would be eanough for me to pay that price. But if not, dont do it. As to the girl that got fired. It could be one of a million things with Chris. First off hes a new Factory Distributor. So his skills in being sensitive to employees is still new. He is a blunt guy. I know this. So, sorry for that, he doesnt try to be. If he owes you money, then make sure that he does before you start making claims. Most of the time if he sd that you can make 600 in a week. It means that is what you COULD make. Which you really can if you wanted to. If he sd that it was a guarantee, there probly was a minimum amount of work that you have to do. For instance working 6 days a week, getting a certain number of shows done or selling a certain amout of kirbys things like that. Really if you didnt do everything that was required then he doesnt owe you anything. Im not saying you didnt. Im just saying that this is just "by law" stuff. Besides that let me end with a few of my own experiences. Just so people can know about some positive things(if thats allowed on this site). When I joined the company 3 years ago I had just moved to town. I moved in with my partents(my wife and son as well). I drove a 84 mercury and had NO money. I didnt know about the job when first signed up and had little training. THey only thing i knew is that they made this job sound really great and that I could make alot of money. So, I told them I would give it a try because I had nothing else going for me(30 denied applications starts to suck). I had little training and was just kinda thrown out into the field to knock doors and sell the kirby. Ill admit, It was the toughest thing I have ever done in my life, but I made 1500 dollars my first week. I got my own place with my wife and son and within 3 months I had bought a new Cavalier. I have now worked at 3 offices in 2 different states. I have been on 3 trips i didnt pay for by selling 15 machines in a month. The company sent me to Colorado, 6 Flags over TX with my family, and to Florida. They put my in a 5 star hotel and it was just something I got to go to for doing the work. I now have the ability to take off whenever I want and not have to worry about getting fired. I know that it is 1 out of about 500 that will make it this far. But it is not impossible. I know that we make it sound like its easier than it is, but what company doesnt do that. I have seen some great things in this company, I have worked my butt off every step of the way, I have worked 6 12 hr days before, and nothing has made me tougher. With this experience I can work ANY sales job out there, because this is harder than anything else out there. I have seen thousands of people come and go because they couldnt cut knocking doors and making a friend with someone and showing a kirby, and have eanough guts to ask them if it was something they would like to own. May be thats why people dont like us. Becuase its a tough job and we didnt tell them that. At the same time, shouldnt they already know that? I mean kirbys been around for 90+ years. Ive never met anyone who didnt know what we do. I was handed a script and told to go do it just like everyone else. I happened to like it, other people didnt. I understand that people have been in situations that where not the best. We get some people in our company that are desparate because they where in a situation like I was. They just handle it the wrong way in hopes of making some money. We have things we need to deal with. But until you find the facts about both sides then you can never truely understand the issue. Thanks for listening, I hope that this shines some light on the issues people are having.
