IGS contract expires without notifications. They claim that they sent letter 2 mo. in advance, but did not recieve a letter. They start super raising ther rates (sneaky). I am speaking of natural gas not electricity, I have different supplier for electricity. I am 55 years old on social security disability and get government funded low income energy a*s. (LIHEAP) in winter months I paid the highest gas bills I had ever paid in my life, in the warmest winter ever recorded in history. They quickly ripped off all my government funded low income help in about 2 months, that would normally last about 4 or 5 months. When I figured out what was going on I called and made a complaint and told them I did not want any of there door to door people coming to my door anymore and I canceled. Of course I had to go another month with them as a supplier and they jacked up the rate again in that last month to rip me off a little more going out the door. The last month was .55 cents per therm and nicor was at .39 cents per therm. Employees coming on this web site to say things like understand your bill just goes to show that they are banking on people not understanding there bill, they come to your door and want to see your bill so they can tell you how much they are gonna undercut that rate. They don't tell you that when the contract expires they will start chargeing you super high rates no matter what time of year or what the gowing rate for gas is. I can imagine how many senoir citizens they are ripping off who may have a hard time understanding there bill. There are horrifing reports on this site of IGS misleading and ripping off there own employees. There door to door people are in my neighborhood at least once a year, I think they pick low income areas. I will be going to my city hall to see if they know and if there canvasers are getting the proper permits to go door to door. Regulations are in place to protect consumers from big corporate rip off. Nicor is regulated they cannot raise there rates way up over the prevailing rate. Consumers beware of unregulated companies. IGS is a greedy, lying, manipulators.
